Make your own book template! Kids love writing their own stories. This is an easy to print document that students can put together themselves to make their own book. Working on vocabulary or spelling words? Have students copy them at the beginning of the book and then use them throughout the story. Have students share their own stories with others in the class to encourage reading skills. All you need to do is print out a copy for each student, and let their own imagination soar.

These journal pages are designed to promote creative writing with a "Superhero" theme. This packet contains 10 writing prompts which can be used with beginning writers as well as students who are more accomplished writers. Blank lined writing pages are included for students who need more space for their stories.

Tell your own story:

Students enjoy telling their own Christmas stories. In this project, they will write and illustrate their stories of Christmas past, present, and yet to come, in a way that is similar to what happens to Scrooge in the novel.

I used this as a cumulative activity after the students had read the novel and before Christmas Break.

Students loved sharing their stories and hearing the hopes their classmates have for their futures.

This is a great practice of finding the student's voice. They get a writing prompt that explains that they are in charge of finding a new mascot for Easter. They get to brainstorm some ideas for a new Easter Bunny. Then they can use their graphic organizer to format their opinions and why their mascot would be a good choice. Once they have finished the graphic organizer, they can then continue the writing process and write out their essay. Included in this download is a writing prompt, 2 graphic organizers, choose which one works best for your needs. Then there are 4 different writing pages. 2 have titles already on them, 2 have a place where students can draw a little picture.

This Wild West Roll a Story activity features everything students need to create an exciting adventure in the Wild West:

• 6 unique characters, like a sheriff, horse, or saloon keeper.
• 6 different problems, such as a thirsty horse or missing gold.
• 6 settings, including a gold mine, cattle ranch, and more.

Students roll the dice three times—once for each story element (character, problem, and setting)—then organize their thoughts using one of the included lined writing pages to plan and write their tale.

Students start by rolling a dice three times. The first roll determines their character, the second roll identifies the problem, and the third roll selects the setting.
