It can be a simple packet for talking about the animals and plants in general or you can go further by learning about the plants in the coniferous forest verses the plants that live in the deciduous forest. Pages 3-5 – These pages are a sorting activity where students can sort the animals and plants according to whether they are in a deciduous forest or a coniferous forest. This engaging resource contains five informational reading passages about unusual birds, adaptations, their environment, life cycle, and more. The passages are written on three different reading levels. There is an engaging graphic organizer for students to fill out as they read.

The passages were written with third graders in mind, but the information is very interesting and complex and would be useful for upper grades as well. Even I learned things while researching! There is a tips sheet for teachers and a bird specific vocabulary sheet.
