What is Included:

• Letter or Number Hunts: Have students find the letters or numbers that you have hidden around the room.
• ABC Order or Number Order: Have students place letters or numbers in the correct order.
• Pocket Chart Game: Place the cards into a pocket chart and hide a picture behind one of the cards. Have students guess which card the hidden picture is behind.

It goes along with Benchmark Literacy Phonics Unit 1 - l-family blends (cl, bl, fl, pl, and sl). In this product you will find four different versions to use in your classroom. The first two pages of this document have only the decodable words for this unit. The third and fourth page of this document have decodable words along with the sight words. How I use Four in a Row in my classroom: The students play with a partner and each group gets a set of double sided counters. Our counters are yellow and red. One student is red and the other student is yellow. The students take turns and say a word. If the word is read correctly, the student can put a counter on that space. The other student gets a turn and place a counter on the space if they say the word correctly. If a student says a word incorrectly, they do not get to place a counter on the space and it is the other person’s turn. The game continues until one student has four counters in a row across, diagonally, or up and down. Treasure Hunt Game is fun game designed to help students develop their verbal counting of multiples. This is a great game to build multiplication fluency in your classroom. In this game the students are counting by multiples of 2 up to 20. This game can be played with 2-3 players. The concept for this game came from Add+Vantage Math Recovery (also known as AVMR). This game is perfect for small group instruction or math work station. Perfect for independent or instructional practice.

There are two different styles of cards, square corners and rounded corners. This game includes four cards with shapes (square, triangle, circle, and diamond). These cards are the start of each row. There are also 40 cards that have multiples of two and one of the four shapes. Nine treasure chest cards are also included.

How to Play:

Establish 4 rows using the cards with shapes. Shuffle the deck of cards, including both numerals and treasure cards. Deal 10 cards per row, face down. After dealing the cards into the 4 rows of 10 there will be 9 cards remaining. These 9 cards become a draw pile.

1. Player 1 draws a card from the draw pile and places the card face up in the row of the corresponding shape and the in the correct position of the sequence, removing the the card previously in that position. For example if they draw a 6 with a circle it would go in the 3rd spot in the circle row.

-If the removed card is a numeral card, Player 1 gives it to the Player 2 who then places this card face up into the correct position.

-If the removed card is a treasure card, Player 1 keeps the card and play continues with Player 2 drawing from the draw pile.

-Play continues.

2. The game ends when you have revealed the 4 sequences. If there are no more cards in the draw pile simply choose a card that hasn't been flipped over yet.

3. The winner is the player with the most treasure cards.

For best durability print the cards on card stock and/or laminate them to ensure extra durability. There are 14 pages that will be printed front and back. See PDF preview to see all cards in this file.

This product is a supplemental activity to make your lessons more engaging! This product is the BANG! word game using decodable words and sight words from 1st Grade Benchmark Literacy Phonics Unit 1. Benchmark Literacy Phonics Unit 1 is beginning l-family blends (cl, bl, fl, pl, and sl). This produce includes four pages. The decodable words are on the first two pages and the sight words are on the last two pages. There are a total of 40 card which includes 16 decodable words, 14 sight words, and 10 "BANG!" cards. The cards can also be used as flashcards!
