Positive Affirmation Counseling Activity

Need a fun social-emotional learning classroom lesson, self-esteem small group activity? Your students will LOVE learning all about positive affirmation activities. Using positive affirmations will help your students develop self-efficacy, nurture a positive self-concept, and be a protective factor and coping tool when life gets tough.

Help your students discover, strengthen, and be proud of their abilities, talents, and skills. These activities are designed to help your students improve their self-confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem. These activities are meant to help individuals recognize their strengths, overcome negative self-talk and self-doubt, and build a positive self-image.

This Self-Esteem Project is about discovering oneself, recognizing and affirming one's talents, skills, and capabilities. It is also being aware of what we do that affects our self-esteem. By focusing on developing our students' self-esteem our students can cope with mistakes, help kids try again even if they fail at first, they can value themselves and their abilities, and help them be proud of the things they can do.

This module includes:

* Definition of self-esteem

* Signs of positive and negative self-esteem

* Self-esteem concepts

* Quick inputs

* Tips for a healthy self-esteem

* Tips for parents to help raise the self-esteem of their kids

* Processing questions are included in each activity to facilitate better learning experiences

This is a fun, creative and engaging intervention for students who have difficulty with persistent lying. This intervention helps students project their internal beliefs and fears about themselves onto the monster that they create and imagine and gain acceptance from you.

Although this isn’t a directive/skills-based intervention, this mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who have a history of lying. Students are encouraged to create their own monster and explore key aspects of their monster. This intervention includes various activities, reflective questions and worksheets.

Within this intervention the monster is also encouraged to play two truths and a lie so that they play intentional truth telling and lying. Additional creative stories will be journaled to support students to understand the distinction between imagination and reality. This intervention takes the focus off the child "lying" and allow them to explore it in a creative way that isn't directed at them.

This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the monster that the student creates and imagines.

Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what they would look like as a monster to support integration.

This is a creative and engaging intervention based on Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TFCBT) principles to support students to explore Domestic Violence.

This mini-lesson explores the following key areas:

- What is Domestic Violence and examples?

- Learning about the symbol of Domestic Violence (purple ribbon)

- Exploring fault/blame mentality

- Exploring Secrets

- Reflective Questions (feelings, thoughts, what if and what would you do questions?

- Exploring what you would do if you were not believed or listened too

- Your “Helping Hand” – exploring those who are in their support system

- Safety Planning (what children can do in an emergency and calling for help in an emergency)

NOTE - The purpose of this resource is to support children’s understanding of this topic to help them keep safe. Education helps to keep our children safe and work towards reducing violence and abuse in the community. At All Therapy resources we are devoted to increasing awareness of all aspects of children's safety, particularly that of personal safety and protective behaviours within Family Violence Systems.

This resource is more question and reflective based as opposed to psych educative. This resource has been created with a trauma-informed framework in mind to ensure that regardless of the student audience the questions can be utilized as either a foundation on which to either ascertain current knowledge or to ascertain thoughts and feelings on the subject matter. This bundle includes an English and Spanish version of the Hanukkah Candle Book. These are perfect for your bilingual or dual-language classrooms. Ensure your students understand the significance of Hanukkah and relate Jewish traditions to their lives. This resource helps children connect with the miracles of Hanukkah by creating their own through meaningful actions.

The activity features nine candles, each representing a core value. Children light a candle each time they perform an action related to that value, embodying the spirit of the holiday. This engaging exercise teaches fundamental values that aid in overcoming challenges.

**Instructions: **Cut along the dotted lines for each candle. Have students color a candle whenever they practice a related value and staple the candle book beside each candle flame.
