~ Stink Solar System Superhero is a wonderful book to reinforce a solar system/planet study. Students will use their background knowledge about our solar system and gain new understandings about our planets. This literature unit is a great guided reading group study. ~Questions are based on Bloom’s Taxonomy and use higher level thinking skills. Many questions also elicit story recall responses. ~Included in the unit: -comprehension questions for each chapter -word work activity for each chapter ~ I use this unit with one of my guided reading groups. The unit will last about a week or two. Sometimes the guided reading groups set their own expectations/assignments for completing their books. ~ Stink Solar System Superhero is an AR level 3.4 book.

Owl At Home poke cards are a great independent, partner or guided reading group comprehension activity. The poke cards are self checking. Students will answer the question by selecting one of three choices. Using a pencil, straw, or pipe cleaner, students will poke through the hole to choose their answer. The correct answer will have a mark above or around the hole. The poking process quickly engages the students and provides immediate feedback to them. Cards have chapter titles on them for ease of organization. Teacher Preparation: -Print on card stock for durability. -Using a hole punch, at each * punch a hole. -Identify the correct answer and draw a circle around the hole or mark an X above the hole. -Laminate for durability.
