Don’t Eat Pete is a fun game for kids of all ages! Use gold coins (or any other favorite snack) to put on each of the 8 spaces on the game board. One child is then sent out of the room while the others decide which space/leprechaun is “Pete” and then the child returns to class to pick one snack at a time until they get to “Pete” and the kids yell out “Don’t Eat Pete!”. This resource includes five writing prompts that are St. Patrick's Day themed. These would be create to use during any independent writing time or morning work. The picture supports at the top of each page are labeled with their correct spelling and aim to help students brainstorm ideas if they are stuck or have difficulty coming up with ideas of what to write about. Each page has larger primary lines to help students focus on legible writing and letter formation. Each page also has a large space for students to draw what they wrote about either after the writing is done or prior to in an effort to brainstorm what to write about.

This resource includes 10 St. Patrick's Day themed writing prompts that would be best suited toward upper elementary or earlier middle schoolers. This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Forms, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers, and is easily assessed by teachers as all the answers are provided in a quick and easy format.

Time allowance to complete:

5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.

40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)

Time allowance to assess:

A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.

Please ensure when you download this resource into Google Drive that you are logged in to the gmail account where you wish to store the activity. In the past teachers have downloaded resources into their school account in error. Thanks :)
