Firstly, there are three reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• Christmas Around the World
• Santa Claus
• Ebenezer Scrooge

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there are two biography writing units about Santa Claus and Ebenezer Scrooge, and one informational writing unit about the traditions of Christmas around the world. The units have been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Mystery picture

♣ Print out 1 mystery picture per student.

♣ Students cut up the answer tiles and then place them on the correct question tiles to match the words with the definitions.

♣ They can glue the question tiles onto the answer tiles and color the picture too.

Sudoku

♣ Print out 1 sudoku per student.

♣ Students cut off the right side of the sheet along the dotted line and cut out the missing sudoku pictures. They glue them into the sudoku grid so that all 6 words appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame.

♣ Each word must appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame only once.

♣ Check with the whole class - students have to name in English all pictures in the given row, column or 2x3 frame.

Listening to classical music has been shown to help with self-awareness, empathy, and self-regulation. Since social-emotional learning is essential for children, incorporating classical music into your classroom or homeschool is a great way to support their development.

Talk about the emotions evoked by the selected music. What does the music make them feel? Happy? Sad? Anxious? Peaceful? Help students identify and label their feelings. Ask open-ended questions about the music and encourage students to share their thoughts and feelings.

Discuss the different instruments used in the piece of music. What does each instrument contribute to the overall sound? Encourage students to make up a story based on the music. What is happening in the story? Who are the characters? Where does it take place?

While listening, students can draw a picture or scene that comes to mind. What colors are used? What shapes? Why?

Listening Sheet - There are no wrong answers! Students can note how they feel and what they imagine while listening to a selected piece of music. Choose from musical instruments, nature scenes, colors, and more.

Weather & Feelings - Weather is a recurring theme in classical music. Does a musical piece remind the listener of a snowy day or a cheerful sunny afternoon? Listen and Color - While listening, students color the scene and choose the keywords/elements that resonate with their listening experience. This bundle is broken into 10 packs of cards with various themes for the months of August-May (June and July are not included as students are typically not in school during this time frame). The pack for August is generic and can be used year-round. 

Keep your classroom management plan fresh and your kids engaged by switching out the behavior cards monthly. The cards have a different theme for each of the months. Statements on the cards are occasionally repeated in separate months.
