Russian Reading Program 246 Flashcards Letter Blends for Word Building Games

By Eden Digital Arts

246 Russian language reading program syllables/letter blends flashcards Printable PDF Download.

62 pages four cards per page, US-letter size pages 8.5" by 11", best if printed on thick cardstock paper and laminated for durability.

Программа для чтения на русском языке, карточки могут быть использованы для игр на построение слов и чтения.

This is a reading program that I have used to teach all three of my kids to read in the Russian language by the age of 5, as well as a class of 20 five-year-old kids that I taught to read at a Russian school. These cards could be used for kids or adults.

The method of teaching kids to read with letter blends was used in pre-Soviet Russia.

This is a fun way to teach kids to read and to spend quality time with them while teaching, as you will be learning blends and later building words together out of the flashcards.

To be used by one teacher, please do not share or redistribute the file.

Instructions for using the flashcards:

1. Download these files to your computer

2. Print them onto thick cardstock paper, or order them to be printed at your local print shop or online printing services such as Staples, Costco, or Wal-Mart; have them laminated or encase them in clear tape--that is what I used.

3. Cut the sheets up into flash cards. If you are using tape instead of a laminator, first cut then cover the sheets with tape. (This would be done much faster with a laminator.)

4. Start the teaching process by introducing the cards to the child, use one letter/letter blend at a time. Spread the cards on the table or the floor in front of the child.

5. Best way for your child to memorize the letter blends is by singing them--yes, you read that right--as adding music to the memorization process makes memorizing quicker, plus it’s more fun. Select a simple tune that your child is familiar with--the ABC song, for example--or some other song your child knows well, and sing the letters and blends on each card together. The cards are organized in the recommended pattern in your download. For example: ЛУ-ЛО-ЛА-ЛЭ-ЛЫ-Л-ЛЮ-ЛЁ-ЛЯ-ЛЕ-ЛИ-ЛЬ МУ-МО-МА-МЭ-МЫ-М-МЮ-МЁ-МЯ-МЕ-МИ-МЬ

6. After the child has memorized most of the letters/blends, you could start building words together. Start with simple words, names of family members, or simple household terms. Use objects to help the child visualize the words--for example, put his/her favorite toy in front of them and build the word yourself with the cards--then ask them to do the same.

7. This is just one of the examples of how these cards can be used to teach your child to read and, after your child learns more and more cards, they can start building whole sentences.

French Numbers - Colors - Clothes - Battleship Games - BUNDLE

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

French Numbers - Colors - Clothes - Battleship Games - BUNDLE

Use this classic game format to have your students practice les nombres 1 - 20, les couleurs et les vêtements vocabulary. These are NO PREP activities, just print and go. 5 versions of the game are included in each set.

One set is for numbers and the other is for colors. Both sets use the same 40 vocabulary words.

Students randomly place ships on their grid at the top of the sheet by drawing filled in circles. The number of circles for each of their six battleships is indicated at the top of the page. As they try to discover the location of their opponent's ships, they use the grid on the bottom of the sheet to keep track. Instructions are provided in English on each page. Have a look at the preview to see what these games look like.

A list of 8 vocabulary words is written in the left column, and random numbers 1 - 20 are written on the top in numeric form on one set. The other set has masculine and feminine forms of 8 colors at the top. Students randomly match the words on the left with numbers or colors at the top. Some of the vocabulary is deliberately singular when the number 1 is on the grid, so that's something students will have to watch out for! This will give them an opportunity to see the plural forms of the words.

There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of possible responses.

Growing Bundle of Bataille Navale Games

This resource includes 40 different vocabulary words related to les vêtements. You get five versions of the game in each set for a total of 10 games.

How to play:

Print out one page of the version of this game that you want to use per student. Students draw circles to represent their boats on the grid at the top of the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats.

Eight clothes / vêtements related vocabulary words are written in the vertical column and random numbers 1 - 20 or colors are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say a word on the left and a number or color at the top. The vocabulary words have (M) or (F) written next to them instead of articles in case they need to say un or une for a singular word in the numbers set. The colors set includes indefinite articles.

All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids, one for the student and one for keeping track of guesses.

J'ai...Qui a... French Antonyms Opposites Activities - I have...Who has - BUNDLE

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

This French antonyms - opposites bundle includes three sets of J'ai - Qui a activities. Depending on class size you can give each student more than one card or have them play in small groups. Sets 1 & 2 have 39 cards each and Set 3 has 53 cards. Print and laminate these cards if possible to use them year after year.

How it works: Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says Je commence le jeu begins the activity. He says, for example, Je commence le jeu. Qui a un antonyme pour calme? The person who has the card with J'ai bruyant on it says, J'ai bruyant. Qui a un antonyme pour gracieux? And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student's card will say, J'ai _____. Le jeu est terminé!

Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. It's a very engaging and fun activity!

Included:

  • Set 1 - 39 cards
  • Set 2 - 39 cards
  • Set 3 - 53 cards
  • Lists of vocabulary for each set

Words used: Click on the individual products to read a list of words used in each description.
