Have fun this Earth Day with this fun and hands-on Sorting Recycling Activity. This Earth day activity is perfect to teach your learners about recycling and its importance. Learners will sort the items into the different bins and learn about the different materials that can be recycled.

This printable contains:

---> 7 different recycling bins (small and large versions)

---> Items of different materials to be sorted into the different bins

---> Sorting Recycling Info Sheet

---> Includes color and BW versions

Instructions:

•Print out pages and laminate if desired.

•Cut apart the bins, and the items for recycling.

•Discuss with your learners about what items can be recycled and how they must be separated into different bins for recycling.

•Ask your learner to pick up a card, name it and if possible to mention what material the item is made of.

•Then ask them, under which bin they think the item should be placed.

•Continue this until all the items have been sorted.

•If your learner can read, you can give the sheet with the sorting information and ask them to see whether the items have been sorted correctly.

•To make this activity self-checking, put a small coloured dot behind, matching the bin colour.

This packet provides activities and centers about the different kinds of animals and trees that live in the forest. It can be a simple packet for talking about the animals and plants in general or you can go further by learning about the plants in the coniferous forest verses the plants that live in the deciduous forest. Pages 3-5 – These pages are a sorting activity where students can sort the animals and plants according to whether they are in a deciduous forest or a coniferous forest. Combine this sorting set with those from other Habitat sets for more sorting options. Pages 6-13 – The pages are for drawing pictures of different kinds of forests and drawing animals that live there. Student will write the names for the animals they draw. There are pages for forests, woodlands, the Amazon and the African jungle. Each type of forest has 2 pages with different writing lines. Pages 14-19 – These are poster pages for each type of forest and the plants and animals that live there. Pages 20-23 – These are clip cards for telling whether the animals live in the woodlands or the rain forest. The cards are available with and without the animal names Page 24 – This is a memory/concentration game. Print this sheet twice and cut them out to make the game! Pages 25-32 – Available in color and in black and white, these are forest picture cards. Follow the life cycle of a seed with these colorful sequencing cards. (Black and white cards are also included.)

This is a sample from my "Taking Care of Plants" Science Unit

There are several ways that you can use these pictures:

✿ The students can cut out the pictures and then glue them onto paper in the correct order.

✿ Cut the pictures out ahead of time and laminate them. Mix up the cards and have the students sequence them.

✿ Print two sets of the pictures, cut them out and laminate them. Use the pictures to play a matching game. (If the students find two of the same picture they have a “match” and get to keep the cards. Play until all the pairs are found.) This game works well when played with a partner.
