Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" Speech before a crowd of some 250,000 people at the 1963 March on Washington, remains one of the most famous speeches in history. Judith Ortiz Cofer was born in Hormigueros, a small town in Puerto Rico. When she was a young child her father’s military career took the family to Paterson, New Jersey, and much of her childhood was spent traveling back and forth between Puerto Rico and the U.S. mainland. At 15, her family moved again, this time to Augusta, Georgia, where she eventually earned a BA in English from Augusta College. She later earned an MA in English from Florida Atlantic University and did graduate work at Oxford University.
She fights for equality and against prejudice and stereotypes in this piece.

Introduction to Fahrenheit 451 : Reflections on Neil Gaiman essay

In my copies of Fahrenheit 451, Neil Gaiman introduces the novel with an essay written in April 2013. It's called: “Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451 and What Science Fiction Is and Does”. This activity requires you to make copies of the essay for each student. Step 1 directs them to actively read and annotate the text. Step 2 requires them to answer seven questions about the essay. They will need to refer back to the text and explain their answers in complete sentences.
An answer key has been included for your convenience!
This product is perfect for Distance Learning. Students can view the questions on this PDF and answer them in a Google Doc or whatever method you have students submit their work!
