Today in History Daily Warm-Up Instructions:

Image Observation:

Display a historical image related to the day's date or a significant event in history.

Instruct students to carefully observe the details in the image without providing any background information.

Individual Inference:

Ask students to individually jot down their inferences about what they think might be happening in the image.

Encourage them to consider details such as clothing, setting, facial expressions, and any other relevant visual cues.

Partner Discussion:

Pair up students and have them share their individual inferences with their partners.

Prompt partners to discuss and compare their interpretations, encouraging them to consider different perspectives.

Collaborative Inference:

Bring the class back together and facilitate a collaborative discussion.

Select a few pairs to share their inferences with the entire class.

Encourage students to consider diverse interpretations and discuss any common themes or differences in their observations.

Historical Context:

After the collaborative discussion, provide some historical context or information about the image.

Discuss how the actual events align or differ from the students' inferences.

In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary word and signs for the 17 different winter animal vocabulary flashcards presented. The picture card for each flashcard can be printed out on cardstock, laminated, and cut for students to match, practice and learn the English word and sign for each winter animal vocabulary word presented. This primary source worksheet features a passage written by Elizabeth Cady Stanton in Eighty Years and More in which explains why she and Lucretia Mott decided the time had come to organize the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 which ushered in the Women's Rights Movement in the United States. Students will enjoy learning about the motivations behind the creation of the convention. Two questions follow the Guided Reading.

This resource should accompany The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. These editable Google Slides ask students to fill out a timeline of important events from Act 1 of the play and make a prediction for Act 2 based on what they have read.

This resource should accompany the play The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. This resource includes a notes sheet with resources for students to learn about the four communication styles: passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive. Students are asked to think about their own communication styles.

There is also a Google Slides assignment for students to complete by explaining the communication styles of the characters in The Diary of Anne Frank. Students should name the style that they feel best fits each character and explain their reasoning.

My bell ringers are color-coded. Red slides should be covered on Monday, yellow on Tuesday, green on Wednesday (missing from preview), blue on Thursday, and purple on Friday.

Sentence diagramming is so helpful when teaching students parts of speech and sentence structure. The repetitiveness of diagramming for a bell ringer is extremely beneficial for students. I tried grammar workbooks for years, but my students hardly retained anything. Daily sentence diagramming made them remember their parts of speech, and was an amazing foundation for my students to have when we started forming different types of sentences. They picked up on fixing run-ons quickly as well because of their diagramming foundation.

Students use a die to decide the format, topic, and rhetorical appeal that they will use for this persuasive writing assignment. This is meant to be a fun, amusing activity for students learning about rhetorical appeals. One sheet is colored for posting online, the other is in black and white for printing.
