This product was made for students to learn about the 50 states, the spelling of each state, and each state's abbreviation. This product includes slides that are made up of the states that begin with the same letter on each slide, as these states can be confusing. For example: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and Arkansas as well as their abbreviations so students can see the difference. Slides that show states that don't have any similarities, like Georgia, and states that have two words, like New York, are also addressed.
Each slide is provided with the state name and the abbreviation. Students can attempt to fill in the blanks of the abbreviations that were reviewed on each previous slide as well. This helps students to learn the spelling, abbreviations, and location of each state. This product can be used for students who benefit from having material adapted and it can also be used with students who are on grade level as well.

The example state research report includes 7 slides - cover page, where is your state?, facts of the state, symbols of the state, interesting fact about the state, state flag, and why did you write about your state? The example provides students with a foundation of what is expected when they complete their own state research report. This product was developed for students who benefit from adapted instruction. This product can also be used with students who are on grade level as well.

This product includes an example of a weak and strong opening paragraph, a list of what makes a great research report, and a guided research report writing structure is also included. An example of three possible writing topics, a completed KWL chart, and a brainstorming chart that will serve as a guide when writing the rough draft of the research report is included in the student packet. An example of a rough draft on rain forests is also provided to help support students and serve as a guide to help them when writing their own rough draft. Templates are included after the example along with a rough draft template and reminder checklist so students remember to go back and check their work once it is completed.

In this product, students will learn about The American Civil War. Students will also learn the following: Who the President was during the Civil War, the main cause of the Civil War, abolitionists - Frederick Douglas, John Brown, Harriet Tubman, and Harriet Beecher Stowe - when they were born and where, where they died and where, what they did during the Civil War, and how they made a difference for the enslaved or tried to help them, The Underground Railroad - what it was and how it was used, The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 - what it was and what the federal government was responsible for finding, why the South relied on slavery as much as they did and what their concerns were if it was to stop, The Confederate States, the first state to secede, and the Union, what unified means, when the Civil War began, how long the Civil War was, some major battles that took place that include - The Battle of Shiloh, The Battle of Bull Run, The Battle of Antietam, The Battle of Fredericksburg, The Battle of Gettysburg, and The Siege of Vicksburg are reviewed, what happened at each of these battles, who won, and facts about each battle are presented in this product, what happened when the Civil War ended, the kinds of weapons that were used during the Civil War on both sides - muskets, bayonets, and cannons, Why Abraham Lincoln didn't want African Americans to participate in the Civil War, who mane up the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, how brave African Americans were during the Civil War, what women did around the home and the community during the Civil War - how they took care of the home, raised money for war supplies, where they worked - factory and government jobs, acted as nurses to take care of sick and wounded soldiers, became spies on both sides (North and South), and how women would would dress up as men so they could fight in the Civil War, children and what their role was during the Civil War is also reviewed - how old children were when they had to help fight during the Civil War, younger children had to help during the Civil War as drummers and messengers, and how children felt when their family members were gone for long periods of time or never returned home.
The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. Throughout the product, after each page of notes is reviewed, students will answer comprehension questions to review what was discussed on the previous pages. At the end of the product, students are provided with a review that includes multiple choice questions and short answer questions.

In this product, students will learn about Industrial Revolution. Students will also learn the following: vocabulary includes but is not limited to - manufacturing, textiles, goods, production, mass production, quantity, and efficiency. Students will learn when the Industrial Revolution began and ended, what kinds of goods were manufactured, how large factories and technology produced goods in large quantities, how electricity, the production line, and the Bessemer steel press were utilized during the Industrial Revolution, the first textile mill and how it started the Industrial Revolution in 1793, who Samuel Slater was and how he made a profound impact during the Industrial Revolution, the major technology changes that happened during the Industrial Revolution such as coal, the steam engine, steel, iron, and petroleum, the move from people working at home and in small shops to large factories and why, steam power and how it became bigger and more powerful during this time, transportation that includes - steamboats, trains, and the Transcontinental Railroad and how they were useful during the Industrial Revolution, electricity - who invented it, and why it was important during the Industrial Revolution, the what the telegraph was, when the telephone was invented and by who, how it was beneficial and used during the Industrial Revolution, textile technology and how it grew during the Industrial Revolution - The Spinning Jenny and the Spinning Mule - what they were, how they differed from each other, and how they may production easier than spinning wool or cotton by hand, what the cotton gin was - who invented it, the sewing machine - who invented it, and what it was used for, cultural changes during the Industrial Revolution and what they were, working conditions and how they were dangerous for those that worked in factories, child labor - the age of children working, how children were treated, how much children earned, and how many hours children would work each day, why businesses relied on child labor, who breaker boys, newsies, and matchstick girls were, what they did, the dangers of their jobs, the changes that were made, and how they overcome those changes, the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 - what it was, how it changed labor laws for children, and facts about the Act.

Students will learn why we write friendly letters, who we write friendly letters to, what to include in a friendly letter, how you will publish your friendly letter, rules to follow when writing a friendly letter, tips that will help when writing a friend letter, different closings you can use in your friendly letter, 2 examples of friendly letters are included in this packet and 5 friendly letter templates, addressing an envelope, a list of state abbreviations, and street suffixes and their abbreviations are included in this product. After examples of the friendly letter and addressing an envelope are reviewed, students will answer review comprehension questions to ensure they understand how to write a friendly letter and address an envelope.

This product was made for students to learn the following: that different people come to America, the first Americans - Indigenous Peoples, review of directions when going from one place to another in the world, what the first Americans ate, where they lived, what was used to build houses, how they found food, how they made tools and clothes, the first explorers, who the Vikings were, where the Vikings traveled, what colonies, a colony, and colonists are, how colonists and Indigenous Peoples lived on the same land, slaves, brief discussion of the Civil War, and immigrants coming to America to start a new life.
Adapted notes are provided along with an independent review after each slide. Students will be required to fill in the blanks using a key, answer short answer questions without a key, complete multiple choice questions, and look at a graph and answer short answer questions.
Students can complete the review independently, with support, or it can be used as an assessment as well.

Graphic Novel Writing Project - Example, Graphic Organizer and Template

Writing a graphic novel is a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to write about a story idea that interests them, but in graphic novel form. When they are done they can share it with their peers! This product includes information to share with your students about what a graphic novel is, why do we write a graphic novel, rules to follow when writing a graphic novel, the parts of a graphic novel that are necessary to include along with examples. This product includes an example showing the process that is used to write a graphic novel and the steps that are taken and what to include in a graphic novel so that it includes a beginning, middle and end. On the last few pages of the product, a template is included to help students come up with possible graphic novel ideas, a checklist to ensure that they have included all parts necessary to complete their graphic novel, and a reference sheet.

Students will be provided with a research project ideas list and a KWL chart in the beginning of the product. Students will then be provided with template cards that ask students to share why they chose the topic, what students want to learn about their topic before they begin researching, important facts they learned about their topic (with different color templates), what students learned about their topic that shocked them, what did students think about their topic before they researched it, and two sources templates are included (one to share 2 sources and another to share 3 sources). Students can color pictures or print out pictures in the given picture templates and can cut out the template cards that were filled in and glue on file folders or on a poster board to share.
