11th Grade Algebra 2 Activities (by date, latest first)

This is a fun and engaging game that can be used as a review or an informal assessment of operations on rational expressions. The operations included are adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

Minimal preparation for game is needed. Just copy the board games on card stock or laminate if you plan to reuse. Will need some sort of game pieces, but these could be colored paper shapes. I suggest dice, but could use with spinners just as easily.

Answer key and blank board game is included for students to write their answers.

Great puzzle for practising multiplying and dividing complex numbers.

Differentiated questions.

1 Chilli - all multiplications

2 Chillies - one division and two multiplications per arithmagon

3 Chillies - two divisions and one multiplication per arithmagon

There is also some blank ones for students to make up their own to develop some mastery.

Solve each of the quadratic equations using the quadratic formula, giving answers to two decimal places.

Instructions

• Print off the twenty question pages and put them up around the room

• Each question is in the middle of the page and the solution is at the top of another page.

• A student begins on a given question, solves it and finds the answer on another sheet. The question on this sheet will be the next question they answer. Once they have answered all twenty, they will return to their starting question

• Depending on numbers, students can all start on different questions

• There is a student answer sheet included plus the correct sequence

Evaluating negative and rational exponents of numbers. This Treasure Hunt (Scavenger Hunt) is a great way to test understanding. The answer key makes it easy to assess their learning and easy to point them in the right direction should they make a mistake.

This is a riddle with 16 questions where students solve for a variable when there are variables on both sides. There is a modified and non-modified version. The modified version guides students in the process of solving. This is great for special education or when introducing solving equations. My students loved this activity and it kept their interest. Afterwards, they were more comfortable in the process of solving when there is a variable on both sides.

You can use this to differentiate when you have a gap between ability levels.
