French Daily Journal and Activities - Bell Ringers - Journal Quotidien du Matin
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Daily French journals are a wonderful way to start class. You can set this journal up as a bell ringer activity or an early finisher journal. Your students will actively engage in practicing their French in a personalized and meaningful way. You will love this no prep printable daily French journal which includes activities for planning and gratitude. All you have to do is print and go! This French daily work journal provides 200 pages of activities, and it is written completely in French. Take a look at the preview to see all of the details and examples.
Front page activities include the following tasks:
Back page is for writing:
200 pages are included. I like to print double sided which gives me 100 days of journaling. If you choose to have your students use these on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, you can use this as a full year program.
This resource saves you valuable time by not having to write journal questions yourself. The sequence of tasks is designed to be repetitive so that the tasks remain familiar and achievable, yet the content changes every day to keep it fresh!
The second half of the pages is more challenging than the first as it includes reflexive verbs (even some idiomatic ones), and the vocabulary is at a higher level.
Watch the video I made so that you can see all of the rich material inside and I can show and tell you how I like to use this journal. You'll see that I printed mine double sided on pretty parchment paper and turned it into a booklet that really feels like a journal, but plain white paper and folders to store them in work just as well.
Expect your students to:
You will appreciate:
What teachers like you say about this daily French journal:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Marvelous! My intermediate low-mid students love this! They enjoy doing this at the start of class and at home on days they don't have class. They are intrigued by the quotes and expressions. They love the changing information and the tracking of their self-care...in French! They do not receive a "grade" for this - by their own choice. They find it relevant and fun! We sometimes use it as a jumping off point for some discussion and for some grammar points. Mostly, though, the students just enjoy keeping track of their daily feelings, self-care, etc. in French!!" - Anne S.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "My French 3 students were so excited when I showed this to them and have eagerly begun this journaling process. We are beginning our class every other day with this activity. I love all the details that you included!" - Rebecca D.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I've done something similar to this in the past but mine was nowhere near as thorough or well-done. This will be a nice addition to my beginning of class routines." - Shanda H.
PRINTING:
8.5 x 11 letter paper works well for printing this document. All of the pages are black and white and do not require too much ink. I recommend printing the pages double sided. You can bind the pages together with staples, a binder clip, by punching holes in the pages and inserting into a folder, or you can have the pages bound together at a business supply store.

Passé composé - Imparfait - Plus-que-parfait - French Verb Worksheets - Exercise
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
It's hard to find worksheets to practice choosing between the passé composé, the imperfect or the plus-que-parfait. This French exercise includes 20 sentences, and two versions are included. Take a closer look in the preview!
I wrote these exercises when I knew that my students could conjugate these three French past tenses, but they needed practice knowing when to use them.
I like to begin with the multiple choice option as an in-class exercise or homework, and then move on to the more challenging fill in the blank version.

French Present Tense - La Routine Quotidienne Reading & Listening Comprehension
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Are you looking for materials to help your French students with reading and listening comprehension? This unique story and lesson will keep your students' attention, and it is ready to go and doesn't require any prep on your end.
Read and listen to a narrative story in French about Vanessa's daily routine - la routine quotidienne - in the present tense. Students will practice and strengthen reading, writing, and listening skills.
Many different French verbs are used in the present tense including regular verbs, irregular verbs, and reflexive verbs. Some verbs are used with various forms of negation.
This story is available in 6 tenses and in a money-saving bundle:
Included:
➯ STEP 1: Listen to the audio recording of a typical day in the life of Vanessa. See how much you can understand without reading along. It's only a little more than two minutes long, so you can listen to it a few times if necessary.
➯ STEP 2: Listen and read along at the same time with the French only version of the text.
➯ STEP 3: Read the French and English version of the text and notice how the sentence structure changes when comparing the two languages. Take note of any new vocabulary or expressions.
➯ STEP 4: Gap fill exercise #1 - Fill in the blanks with verbs as you listen once again to the audio recording. Check your work with the French only version of the text.
➯ STEP 5: Gap fill exercise #2 - Improve listening skills and comprehension of syntax while increasing your vocabulary. This time, rather than filling in the blanks with verbs, you will listen closely to all of the other words and write what's missing in the exercise. Check your work with the French only version of the text.
Ready to use French stories save loads of time when you unexpectedly need to miss a day and provide substitute material.
My French stories in 6 tenses are perfect for emergency sub plans that do not require advanced preparation or elaborate instructions. Just print the stories and supplementary materials and you’ll have a fun exercise ready for your students when you can't be there.

French Listening and Reading Comprehension - Le Plus-Que-Parfait
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Help your students improve their French with this practical listening and reading comprehension resource featuring le plus-que-parfait. A lot of passé composé is also included in the text.
The plus-que-parfait is embedded in the text, allowing students to practice making inferences, connections, and predictions. The resource includes ten comprehension questions that encourage careful reading or listening. This isn’t a beginner-level quiz, so it will challenge your students to think more deeply about the language.
* This resource is also available as a Google Form, a simple reading comprehension activity with multiple choice answers. The text and questions in the Google Form are the same as those in this comprehensive listening and reading resource.
What’s Included:
This resource has eight different parts that can be used for either reading or listening practice. Each part builds on the last, helping students understand and use the material effectively.
1. Reading Comprehension - Written Text: Start by having students read the text. You can let them read along while listening to the audio, helping them connect spoken and written French.
2. Listening Comprehension - Audio Recording: The text is read by François, a native speaker from Paris, at a normal pace. If students find it too fast at first, let them read along while listening, and then try listening without the text.
3. Listening Comprehension - Questions Audio Recording: After the text, students will hear questions read aloud, with a bell tone and a brief pause to give their answers. This helps them practice listening and responding in real time.
4. Listening Comprehension - Open-Ended Questions Worksheet: This worksheet allows students to write their answers to the spoken questions. For a more interactive experience, you can have them answer orally instead.
5. Reading Comprehension - Open-Ended Questions Worksheet: With the text in front of them, students answer questions in complete sentences, helping them to better understand and express their thoughts in French.
6. Reading Comprehension - Multiple Choice Questions Worksheet: This worksheet offers a multiple-choice format for students who might need a bit more support, making it easier to find the correct answers.
7. Cloze Activity - Fill in the Blanks: Students listen to the audio and fill in the missing words in the text. A word bank is provided, and you can use the original text as the answer key.
8. English Translation of Text + Multiple Choice Quiz Answer Key: An English translation of the text is included for reference, along with the answer key for the multiple-choice quiz. While the translation is helpful, the focus is on understanding the French text.
How to Use:
For best results, start with the reading activities so students become familiar with the text. After a few days or the following week, use the same material for listening practice. This will help reinforce what they’ve learned and improve their overall language skills.
This resource is a great way to help your students gain confidence in French!
