Decorate your classroom or hallway for Valentine's Day with these colorful hearts in Spanish.

The bulletin board decoration set contains 24 color and b&w hearts to learn or review vocabulary about Valentine’s day.

Let your students color the hearts and then cut them in half with different patterns. Or they can just cut the color hearts as shown in the picture. Put all the half hearts on a bulletin board and let your students find the other halves.

The bulletin board that I put together with these hearts is on a hallway and it was really fun seeing students stop and look for the other half hearts.

Not sure how to start making proficiency a focus in your Spanish classes? Start here with this bundle of Spanish Childhood Proficiency-Building Activities! Speaking, Writing and Listening are scaffolded and pre-differentiated with activities that stay with a familiar theme, Childhood.  The scaffolds and familiar theme help students find the courage they need to fully participate and truly build skills! Interpersonal Listening, Speaking and Presentational Writing Activities are all included!

Guided Conversations: 

Guided Convos provide a scenario about a familiar topic and an outline for students to use to keep the conversation going.   Students work with a partner and choose the role of Person A or Person B. They can trade roles, trade partners, or even do the same exact conversation again!  They never turn out the same way!  Students report feeling much more confident and able to keep conversations going after practicing a few times! 

These conversations have 2 different versions for Novice High students and 2 different versions for Intermediate Low students. 

Integrated Listening & Speaking: 

ILS activities are done alone.  Students will listen to a recording, and be given instructions for how to respond.  They might hear: “Tell me about….” Or “Ask me questions about…” .  These activities mimic the speaking/listening portion of many popular Seal of Biliteracy Tests.  

There is a pre-made student activity that requires no language lab!  If you have a language lab or some other kind of recording software, the teacher script will allow you to record the audio for students if you desire.

There are 2 activities in this resource, each with 5 prompts.  They are designed so that the first activity is a bit easier and the 2nd one  a bit more challenging.  Use with different levels or at the beginning and end of a unit!

Scenario Task Cards are my go-to for lots of things!  I display one at the beginning of every class and ask students to take turns talking about the scenario.   But I also use them as a lesson plan for a class activity!  I have students change partners and have them tell a story about 5 times in a row, each time with a new scenario and a new partner.  Then students switch roles.  Listeners become the speakers.  Finally, sometimes I print the scenarios and ask students to write about them in class or for homework!

Do your Spanish students need some help with interpersonal speaking?  Are they struggling to have conversations in Spanish?  Let’s give them some guided support with these partner conversations that will help them along!  Both students will have the opportunity to ask and answer questions as part of a conversation, but with a lot of scaffolding to build confidence.

There are 32 guided conversations (8 different themes) in this bundle, so both students will have a chance to ask and answer questions in a conversational way.  Many are differentiated between Novice and Intermediate Level Speakers.

You can use these conversations over and over again! Use them with the unit students are studying now, and use them as review for students who are in upper levels of Spanish! There are 8 Guided Conversation activities. Guided Conversations provide a general outline for students to use. It helps them keep the conversation going with a partner so they can continue to create with language! They are differentiated between Novice High and Intermediate versions. The Novice versions have helpful vocabulary on their guides. And they can be used and re-used over and over! Switch partners, switch roles, use them at different points in the unit... and use them as review for more advanced students! Teacher notes make these a breeze to use!

There are 8 Integrated Listening and Speaking activities. The themes are the same 8 themes as the Guided Conversations. These ILS activities contain audio links. Students listen and then record their response. These activities are very much like the AAPPL and STAMP tests and are a great pre-cursor for the Simulated Conversation on the AP Spanish test. The audio links are already recorded for you, but the teacher script is also included in case you want to record your own voice, or show students what they heard when going over their responses. Each theme has 2 activities. There are 5 audio prompts in each (so a total of 10 per theme.) The 2nd activity is meant to be a bit more challenging. You can use that to differentiate for students, or use the 2nd activity later in the unit!

What to turn your Spanish reading comprehension or grammar review into a game?  Using CI to give your students contextualized, comprehensible input?  This Magic 6’s game will motivate, engage and deliver all the CI your students need!  Students will fill in a cloze-style reading with verbs that need to be in the present tense.  But they are racing their opponent!  This adds interest and a bit of drama to the activity, keeping students fully engaged!

The reading is about a new restaurant in town called Sabor Express.  Students will take turns rolling a die to get a 6, or filling in the answers.  Once a student has rolled a 6, they must give the pencil to their opponent.  While they have the pencil they must read in context to figure out what verb form is needed.  When they get to the end, there are several comprehension questions about the reading itself. 

This reading is meant for Intermediate Low students.  It focuses on restaurant, health and illness vocabulary and present tense.  This resource also comes with a present tense “cheat sheet” for students who need support or differentiation. Any part of this resource can be customized for your students if needed!  The teacher answer key and detailed instructions are also included.  It’s everything you need for a high energy class with lots of CI, but low energy for you!

• Students at the Intermediate Low proficiency level

• Break students into pairs or small groups

Do your Spanish students need some help with interpersonal speaking?  Are they struggling to have conversations in Spanish?  Let’s give them some guided support with these partner conversations about Hobbies & Free Time!  Both students will have the opportunity to ask and answer questions as part of a conversation, but with a lot of scaffolding to build confidence.  Guided conversations provide general guidance about how to keep the conversation going without telling students exactly what to say. 

There are 4 guided conversations, so both students will have a chance to ask and answer questions in a conversational way.  Two versions are for Novice High students and 2 versions are for Intermediate students.  

These conversations focus on Hobbie & Free Time mainly in the present time frame. 

Who can use this product?

• Spanish students in year 2 and up

How can I use this product?

• Students will work in partners to participate in a guided conversation
• Students will trade roles so both can practice asking questions and answering questions
• Teachers can assign these conversations as practice or as an assessment
• Students can practice the same conversations with multiple partners to increase comfort and proficiency!

Engage your intermediate level Spanish students with these entertaining reading activities and comprehension questions! These activities would be great for students who are practicing natural disaster, emergency and hospital vocabulary and includes the grammar concepts of preterite vs. imperfect and irregular preterite.

'El incendio' is a story about Mónica and her cat Scratchers. The two are enjoying watching television when all of a sudden, a fire breaks out! This story would also work well for any unit over disasters, heroic acts, emergencies, and contains the grammatical concept of preterite vs. imperfect!

'La sala de emergencia' is about a night in the emergency room. Jessica, the nurse, is supposed to have the night off from the emergency room, but circumstances out of her control have her heading there in an emergency! This story would also work well for any unit over disasters, emergencies, and contains the grammatical concept of preterite vs. imperfect as well as imperfect progressive!

'Las vacaciones' recounts the story of Marta as she heads to English class on the first day of school.
