Students can select the weather symbols that come to mind. Is the music happy or sad? A set of emotional characters allows your group to pick the feelings that best relate to a piece of music.

Adaptive Books with a back to school theme cover fun topics such as going back to school, what do you do in school and jobs we do at school. I have also included cards & editable name tags to use for job assignments. These books require some prep work; however, once made, you can use them year after year!  

Book 1: Back to school

Students will listen to a short story going back to school & what we can expect during the school day. Expected behaviors are also introduced such as stay with the class, walk in the hallway & follow my teacher directions. This story is colorful.  

Book 2: What do you do at school?

Students will listen to a story talking about different areas at school & expected behaviors. Areas include: hallway, arrival, art, classroom, PE, cafeteria & recess.

Book 3: Jobs in my classroom

This book identifies 8 jobs to be completed in the classroom. These jobs include:

• tech support - taking care of computers by plugging in

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. This printable back-to-school Scavenger Hunt for kids is a winning combination of treasure hunt clues and riddles! This printable kids' game includes 10 riddles and hiding spots for kids to venture around the classroom looking for clues. Each riddle reveals a new hiding spot and code word. Get your students acquainted with the classroom at the start of the school year!

Gameplay: 20-30 minutes Ages: 7-10

This fun and engaging classroom mystery quest will be a huge hit for kids ages 7 - 10. Whether you're looking for a fun way to acquaint your new students with the classroom, greet your new students in a fun, friendly way (so they are excited to come back!), or a way to give a reward, this activity is perfect for you.

HOW IT WORKS: A “secret mission” is read, and Clue # 1 is handed to the “treasure seeker, " leading to Clue 2 in a different location. All you have to do is print the clues, cut them in half, and hide them in the classroom exactly as directed! All hiding spots are common classroom locations. The list of hiding spots can be found inside your download and in the listing below. The final prize is up to you! Maybe it’s a small candy or toy reward, or a title in the classroom (such as "the winner gets to be teacher's helper for the week"). How long does this activity take to complete?

It really depends on a lot of things. Estimated completion time is 20 minutes but it’s based on the kids’ riddle skills, group size, and age. It is also HIGHLY based on how difficult it is to find the clue cards. We always suggest folding the riddles and hiding them really well, out of plain sight!

How many kids can play at once?

Kids can play individually, with friends, or with their siblings. For a larger group, you’ll likely want to print and hide multiple copies of each clue.

How do I set up the Scavenger Hunt?

To set up the Scavenger Hunt, you will need to cut the clue cards in half and hide them in the appropriate location. The PDF includes the correct hiding spots for each clue. All hiding spots are common household places such as under the bed, bathroom sink or in a closet. The harder the clues are to find, the more fun the kids have! If clues are hidden in plain sight, the hunt would be completed too quickly.

Where do kids begin?

You may begin in any location of the classroom. Together, the “mission” is read out loud to get your kids hooked. Kids are then handed the first clue card. Each clue card contains a riddle that will lead them to the location of the next clue.

How do I set up the activity?

Just print, cut, hide and play! Everything you need is included in your download.

Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?

Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual clue cards is all you need!
