Free 2nd Grade Basic Operations Resources (by date, latest first)

This game provides a fun way to apply various math strategies learned in school. This is the free version of the Basic Addition and Subtraction Slot Machine Game. This version provides 5 preselected addition and subtraction problems to keep within the page guidelines for free resources.

Basic Features:

• Single-player game that can be played online or offline. Can also be used for classroom review.
• Automatic scoring. Learners earn points for each correct answer.
• No prep: Open/send the link and go!
• Learners are acknowledged by name for correct answers and while on the final score page.
• Spinning slot machine wheel with sound effects.
• No macros = play on any device.
• Google account not required!

TEKS Aligned:

• M.K.3 M.1.3: Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to develop an understanding of addition and subtraction situations in order to solve problems.
• M.1.3.A: Use concrete and pictorial models to determine the sum of a multiple of 10 and a one-digit number in problems up to 99.
• M.1.3.C: Compose 10 with two or more addends with and without concrete objects.
• M.1.3.D: Apply basic fact strategies to add and subtract within 20, including making 10 and decomposing a number leading to a 10.
• M.2.4: The student applies mathematical process standards to develop and use strategies and methods for whole number computations in order to solve addition and subtraction problems with efficiency and accuracy.
• M.2.4.B: Add up to four two-digit numbers and subtract two-digit numbers using mental strategies and algorithms based on knowledge of place value and properties of operations.
• M.2.4.D: Generate and solve problem situations for a given mathematical number sentence involving addition and subtraction of whole numbers within 1,000.

Practice these drill worksheets to master the basics of addition.

One-minute each day for two weeks will make a big difference!

Start from adding 1 and 2 (or even 3) each day. As 100% accuracy in 1 minute is mastered, proceed to 4,5,6, and so forth.

My students always need a variety of ways to practice their multiplication facts. These sheets were designed to give students the opportunity to skip count horizontally and vertically as well as practice basic facts. This includes three sheets. The first sheet is 2, 5, and 10. Cross and toss is a dice game that allows students to practice their addition or multiplications facts in a fun way.

Students take turns rolling two dice and add the numbers shown. Then they cover or cross that number on the recording sheet provided.
