2nd Grade Music Songs (by rating)

In "Holiday Rhythm Discovery" students will see a rhythm appear on the screen and will be given the opportunity to clap back (or perform back, say back, sing back, however you wish!) the rhythm being displayed. Then, they will see a multiple choice listing of songs -- which song matches the rhythm?

Advance the slide and the correct answer will turn GREEN

The next level in the Rock'n'Rollin' method books! In R'n'R 2, we transition from a simple 3-line staff, to a full 5-line staff. The book focuses on getting students used to reading and playing on the 5-line staff. Other concepts in the book include stickings and rudiments, time signatures, rests, and introduces note and rest names like Quarters, Half's, and Whole's. Color is still used throughout the book to help with the transition on the staff.

The book itself is 100 pages and includes various activities, pages for composition, and a practice tracker in the back. At the end of the book, students may also fill out the Awesomeness Certificate to show they've completed the book!

Please note, this book is licensed for you to make multiple copies for teachers and students. You may duplicate as needed!

Have fun with this book and chant while you celebrate Valentine's Day! Use this to engage your students further in the book by having them chant at certain points in the book. Great for students in grades PreK-2.

Get your class on beat! Included are 6 background tracks with ethnic flair -- tablas, djembes, bongos, and more ethnic percussion from Asia, India, and South America. The 6 tracks are at approximately 120bpm and also have a faster 142bpm just in case you want to get things really moving! (12 tracks total) I use these in my class for Orff, Boomwhacker, Rhythm Sticks, Dancing, Movement, or singing activities. The tracks go for about 2 minutes each and there's about 18 minutes worth of drum music in the ZIP file Have fun!

Here come the Little Jammers! This new program from ZSMP/Seckman Music Studio is a Kids Band Discovery curriculum that teaches students the basics of playing Guitar, Keyboard, Drums, and a little singing as well! Little Jammers uses colored notes on the staff and instruments to allow kids to visually learn the music.

This Preview Pack includes 5 of the 21 songs from the full program curriculum. In the pack, you'll have the lessons plans, set-up instructions, band books for the kids, 10 backing tracks, and teacher scores for the 5 songs. Preview Pack materials are studio-licensed so you may make as many copies as needed, but the Little Jammers name may not be used; song titles can be published for programs and concerts.

You will need additional material and instruments for this program such as: Half-sized guitar, jr drumset, small synth/keyboard, amplifier and appropriate cables, all explained in the set-up material.

Use this song tale about the little red hen to sing about what happens in the story! Explain the holiday of Passover as well as some of the Yiddish terms in the book. Discuss with the students what kindness means and how friends can show this kindness to each other and how the hen shows kindness. Read the book and then sing along. As an added extension, use the main motif to practice so, mi, do and re solfege syllables. Can be used with grades PreK-3.

Need to connect with your kids with their pop music through general music? Involve them in bucket drumming with Shakira's hit from the movie Zootopia, "Try Everything"

There are three all-color coded slides along with the form identifiers listed next to each phrase. Discuss form with the students and teach them (by rote) the rhythms on the powerpoint with the corresponding repeats (most are repeated 4 times). Then, apply it to drums!

All regular notation is to be played on the buckets (or drums, or ground, however you wish), and the X notation (with a down stem) are played as stick clicks above their head (or you could apply it to a tambourine or other auxiliary instrument)

Use this wonderful book to teach the half note rhythm! Teach the chant to your students and have them clap or play along on rhythm services. Then use the rhythm chart and worksheet (can be assigned and used digitally) to have students practice writing half notes. Adaptable for grades PreK-2nd grade.

RHYTHM BASKETBALL is in for Halloween with the smash hit "Grim Grinning Ghosts" in an Electro Swing Remix version from the Disney Theme Parks Haunted Mansion attraction!

There are three all-color coded slides along with the form identifiers listed next to each phrase. Discuss form with the students and teach them (by rote) the rhythms on the powerpoint with the corresponding repeats (most are repeated 2 or 4 times ).

• For this, your students will each have a basketball (can be regulation size or smaller) and bounce their ball on the ground each time they see a basketball icon. Each basketball icon is denoted as a quarter note. The rests are in between each basketball for the students to hold the ball.

• Two two smaller basketballs are treated as 2 eighth note pairs

• This can be performed with lower intermediate grade levels (think 3rd and 2nd grade!) with easy because there's no standard notation to follow along

The mp3 is included so you can play right along with it!

Have fun with this and let us know how it goes!

Use this songtale after you have read the book to sing through the events in the story. Catchy refrain allows students to participate each time that you come back to it after singing a new verse. Add simple small percussion instruments when singing the refrain for added engagement. Sure to delight and entertain your students around Eastertime! For grades PreK-2.
