I have a dream writing prompt is perfect for the month of January when we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. and his influence he made on the world. A biography writing unit about the life of basketball superstar, Stephen Curry. The NO PREP unit, which has been updated to include the 2022 NBA Championship victory, has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in third grade or fourth grade. Students will learn about the famous figure whilst working on their comprehension skills and developing their creative writing.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Jacob Lawrence Storefront Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. It is best to use 18 x 24 white paper for this unit, since this will be a rather large artwork. This unit should last 4-(50 minute) class periods. I allowed the use of crayon for larger areas on the paper (like the sky, road, sidewalk, and buildings). I allowed the use of colored pencils for small, detailed areas. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.
