Tornado poke cards are a great independent, partner or guided reading group comprehension activity. My students love the poke card process and enjoy checking each other when they answer questions. The poke cards are self checking. Students will answer the question by selecting one of three choices. Using a pencil, straw, or pipe cleaner, students will poke through the hole to choose their answer. The correct answer will have a mark above or around the hole. The poking process quickly engages the students and provides immediate feedback to them. Cards have chapter titles on them for ease of organization.

~ The Case of the Marshmallow Monster is perfect for guided reading groups. The 12 page packet can easily be differentiated. ~Included in the unit: -vocabulary for the book -comprehension questions for each chapter -extension project – The Marshmallow Monster Chase game ~ When I use this unit with one of my guided reading groups, the unit can last from a week to two weeks depending on how often the group meets.
