Let’s Make Shapes! Yoga Poster
By Lara Hocheiser
Shapes are all around us, and we can even make shapes with our bodies.
For years I’ve taught this class to toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarteners. It’s perfect for early childhood or group where big kids support younger kids. If you have mixed ages, or are working with first or second graders, you can make it interesting by focusing on the number of sides in a shape and placing the poses in order based on the number of sides in the shape.
Remember to have fun, allow for mistakes, review the shapes and poses in a light hearted way, and make the children feel like shapes, math, and yoga are their friends.
Let’s Make Shapes! is a 6-page PDF download that you can view on your phone, tablet, computer or print to paper.
This activity packet includes:
For the full lesson plan with mindfulness activities, breathing exercises and our popular yoga cards, get the full version here.

⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻
This resource is great for:
This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Forms, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers, and is easily assessed by teachers as all the answers are provided in a quick and easy format.
This resource is part of the Historical Superstars of Sport Close Reading Digital & Print Bundle. The bundle features reading comprehension activities on Jackie Robinson, Muhammed Ali, Jesse Owens and Michael Jordan.
⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻
Time allowance to complete:
5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.
40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)
Time allowance to assess:
A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.
Please ensure when you download this resource into Google Drive that you are logged in to the gmail account where you wish to store the activity. In the past teachers have downloaded resources into their school account in error. Thanks :)
