This newly updated *94 page* unit will cover you for roughly 7-9 Core French 1-hour classes and features a teachable slide deck, worksheets, lesson plans, rubrics, success criteria, a word wall, a phrase wall and numerous suggestions to get your kids having fun, moving, interacting and legitimately enjoying French class with you. As with all of my Core French products, this one is geared toward a LOW-LEVEL middle-school classroom (grades 3-7). It's high-energy, interactive, highly engaging and requires no prep. It ties in to some science concepts for grades 5 & 6 on biodiversity and adaptations. It features a significant amount of game-based learning and some project-based learning

There are three longer projects included with this unit: "Mon drôle d'animal" which has them building a silly animal and describing its body parts and details; "Mon animal perdu," a poster project which has them creating a poster for their missing pet, and "Une interview à la radio" which has them writing a radio script to find their lost pet with a partner.

This lesson implements June Carter Cash's and Johnny Cash's song, Ring of Fire, as part of the introduction. In addition, the lesson discusses not only the plates but also the boundaries and how they move creating new landforms. Students will, in addition, track and plot earthquakes and volcanoes.

OBJECTIVE:

o The learner will identify the Ring of Fire’s geographical location and will identify it as a region.

o The learner will describe the events that occur along the Ring of Fire—earthquakes and volcanic activity.

o The learner will plot recent earthquakes and volcanoes in the Pacific Ocean on a map to discover the relationship between these events and the plate boundaries.

o The learner will determine the types of boundaries that lie within the Ring of Fire

MATERIAL NEEDED:
o Copies of Ring of Fire lyrics, Johnny Cash version, written by June Carter Cash (Included)

Introduce your students to the thrilling no prep Soils, Rocks and Landforms Scavenger Hunt! This engaging and interactive activity puts students in the shoes of a geologist mining in a city in Arkansas that is rumored to be full of rare gems that would make the finder rich!

Each student, or group of students, will receive 10 reading task cards related to soil, weathering (chemical and physical), erosion, deposition, fossils, types of landforms and how they are created. The task is not only to read the cards but to solve 10 questions—the catch is that the answer to each question is found on a different card, encouraging students to read all the information thoroughly.

How It Works:

• Students will need to determine the code word for each card by answering the fill-in-the-blank questions.
• Once all the code words have been found, students must unscramble the letters from each code word to discover the final mystery word.
