French Decodable texts that align with the Science of Reading and current available reading education concepts. The easy to use texts can be utilised in the classroom with little to no preparation. Make a few copies of each text and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Whatever way you choose to use this resource, I am so grateful that you have given this item a try!

Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Texts are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.

What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Make your ESL classroom look different from a regular education room by Considering these multilingual Vegetables Vocabulary labels!

Each label takes up 1/4 of a page so they are nice and big, but not too obtrusive. There are 32 words for a total of 8 pages. Check out the preview of the first 4. They each feature the English word in big, bold black letters while the other languages are in a smaller font and in different colors. Languages included are Chinese (simplified/Red), Arabic (Violet), Russian (Green), and Spanish (Brown). To help aid meaning, I've included pictures.

My favourite game to practice German verb conjugations (schwache, starke, trennbare, reflexive, Misch-, Modalverben, Verben auf -eln und -ern**.** It can be used in any tense. No prep, just PRINT AND GO.

This is my go-to game when I need to drill some grammar into my students. It's by far the most efficient grammar game. I love it because it's so easy to use. And my students love it because it doesn't feel like learning when, in fact, they do a TON of learning. We can easily spend the whole lesson playing battleship and they want to keep on playing even after the bell rings.

It's also a great activity for substitute lessons or when I'm in a time press and don't have much time to prepare for a lesson.

How to play:

• It can be played in pairs or in small teams
• Hide your ships in the left field. They mustn't touch.
• Form sentences in order to "hit" the enemy ships in the right field.
• If your enemy hits your ship, indicate that in the left field. If you hit your enemy's ship, mark it down in the right field. If you miss, mark it down as well. If you hit your enemy's ship, have another go.
• To win, sink all of your enemy's ships before he sinks yours.

Directions

Materials Needed:

• One of the 10 worksheets or the editable template where you add your own words
• A regular six-sided die
• Colors
• Optional: A device with a QR code scanner (phone, tablet, etc.)

Rolling the Die:

• Students roll a six-sided die to determine which color word they read in Spanish.
• Students can also scan the QR code on the worksheet using a device with a QR code scanner to access a virtual dice roller.

Reading the Word:

• Students match the number rolled with the corresponding color word on their worksheet.
• Students read aloud the color in Spanish to practice pronunciation.

Marking Progress:

• Once students read a word, they should shade in color the box using the color that matches the Spanish word read.
• If students roll a number they have already completed, they should roll again until they land on a new word.
• Students continue rolling and reading until they have completed all the words on their worksheet.

With this game, learners have less than 15 seconds to race against the clock and translate the number, color, or shape represented by the highlighted word. Here's the twist: The possible responses start disappearing after time. Incorrect answers lose points and correct answers earn points. I hope you are able to use this resource in your class by quickly making copies and allowing students to use their creativity and unique perspectives to colour and decorate how they see fit.

Personally, I made copies onto pink printer paper in poster size 200% to make two big posters with the title 'Jour du chandail rose' and students have placed their Tshirts around the poster. Older students will also make theirs with a writing piece to explain their views on Pink Shirt Day in French.

How to use this resource:

1. Copy a set for students. I like to copy multiple sets (ie. 3 sets of 8 to insure that students sitting with one another do not have the same page next to them. I find this allows for more creative development as they do not copy their neighbour).

2. Let students colour and create and cut the shape of the Tshirt out

3. Display on a bulletin board or on the wall of your school

Make your ESL classroom look different from a regular education room by considering these multilingual Transportation and Vehicles Flashcards.

Each label takes up 1/4 of a page so they are nice and big, but not too obtrusive. There are 45 transport vehicle's names for a total of 13 pages. Check out the thumbnail and the preview of some pages in the pictures. They each feature the English verb in big, bold black letters while the other languages are in a smaller font and in different colors.
