Color Word Centers and Small Group Activities in English Spanish and French

By Jennifer Connett

Do you teach a foreign language to your students? This packet contains two center activities that help teach colors in English, Spanish and French! It is differentiated so that students who need more help can use the colored word cards and those who are more advanced can use the black and white cards. The first center activity, the students match the color name to the color splat on the color mats. There are color mats available in English, Spanish and French with word cards available with each color. Use Velcro on the word cards and the blank spaces to allow the word cards to stay in place. The second center activity is a matching/memory game where students pair the colored splat card with the correct color word. This center is also available in English, Spanish and French. Pages 3-4: American English color charts Pages 5-6: English word cards in black and white Pages 7-8: English word cards in color Pages 9-10: British English color charts Pages 11-12: Spanish color charts Pages 13-14: Spanish word cards in black and white Pages 15-16: Spanish word cards in color Pages 17-18: French color charts Pages 19-20: French word cards in black and white Pages 21-22: French word cards in color Page 23: Color cards for matching/concentration game Pages 24-25 English word cards in black and white Pages 26-27 English word cards in color Page 28: Spanish word cards in black and white Page 29: Spanish word cards in color Page 30: French word cards in black and white Page 31: French word cards in color

Looking to the Past: Verb Tense Activity - Instagram Themed

By A Teachers Sidekick

These are fake Instagram posts that have pictures of activities. One post shows the activity happening in the present and the other post shows the activity either finished or happening in the past. The teacher will need to cut out the Instagram posts and the text boxes. Then the students will need to place the descriptions (inside the text boxes) with the correct Instagram post. The majority of the practice with this activity is focused on past tense, but there is also present and future tense.

**An extension for the activity is to have the students underline and identify the verb that shows the tense of the sentence.**

This can be used for multiple grade levels and would be a great support activity for upper elementary and middle school students who need practice with verb tenses (especially past tense).

I hope you enjoy it. Please rate and review.

Virtual Escape Room - The Lorax Themed - Comprehension and Spelling

By A Teachers Sidekick

This is a virtual escape room to complete with your students after reading Dr. Seuss's The Lorax. Students will be answering comprehension questions about the story and also having to fill in the blanks for some sight/spelling words. Students could complete this in groups or as individuals.

I would recommend giving students 30 minutes to complete this escape room and displaying that timer in your classroom or on your screen somehow. The only things students will need are a device and maybe a whiteboard or paper for taking notes while they complete the escape room. I hope you enjoy it. Please rate and review.

The Lorax Jeopardy Game

By A Teachers Sidekick

This is an interactive Jeopardy game that is focused on the Lorax. This can be used with the book and the movie. I recommend reading and watching both because the questions come from both forms of media. You can click on the game board points to go to that question. On each slide, there is a place to return back to the board.

I would recommend splitting the students into teams and having one be assigned as the speaker. You can choose to do the normal Jeopardy way of answering in the form of a question, but for younger elementary, I would not recommend that.

It is played like normal Jeopardy. So the first team to buzz in, gets to answer. If they get the answer right they add that amount of points, if they get it wrong, then they have that amount subtracted. If the first team gets it wrong, then another team gets to buzz in. There will need to be a scorekeeper for this game. I would also recommend having someone keep track of what questions they have already answered.

The only slide that is not connected to the board, is Final Jeopardy. So you will need to go to the last 2 slides for the Final Jeopardy question and the answer.

I really hope you enjoy it. This is my first Jeopardy game so please rate and review. Also, message me any feedback that could be used to improve!

Special Thanks to Plearn for supplying the Lorax Clip Art. Go check out Plearn’s Store!

Physical Escape Room for The Lorax - Comprehension and Sight Words

By A Teachers Sidekick

This is a physical escape room to be completed after reading the Lorax. Students will answer comprehension questions for their clues along with spelling some sight words and vocabulary words. It all ends with them unscrambling letters to make the door code.

This will take some prep. You will need to print off all the clues (which I included some options already) like the gloves and the watering can. You then hang those up around the room for the students to find. Have a stack of clues by that item so students can get their next clue.

I would recommend having the students complete this in groups no bigger than 3 or 4. Each group will need a clue sheet so they can keep track of their clues and also provide you with answers. This also has the area where they will provide the door code. You will also need to provide the timer for the students. I recommend putting it on a projector board so all the students can see the time.

You start off by showing the students the intro message from the Lorax, then you provide the groups with the clue sheets, and Clue # 1.

If you would like to do a virtual escape room, I also have created one to go along with The Lorax.

I hope you enjoy it! Please rate and review.
