101 Google Forms close reading passages, or informational texts, with comprehension and grammar questions followed by extension tasks. The Google Forms activities are ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in 3rd grade or 4th grade. The activities also come in PDF format for printing.

Time allowance for each activity:

5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.

40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity).

Time allowance to assess:

A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. Firstly, there are three Close Reading Activities, or informational texts, with comprehension and grammar questions followed by extension tasks about LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Steph Curry. The resources are Google Forms activities and are ideal for distance learning.

Secondly, there are three Biography Writing Units about the same players. The units have been split into four separate lessons each. The Google Slides activities are ideal for distance learning. In each unit the first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.

Finally, there is a Discussion Based Writing Unit about who is the greatest modern-day basketball player. The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about Michael Jordan, LeBron James or Stephen Curry, and typing these on to an included fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual players. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before typing up their work using the template provided.

A Google Slides opinion writing unit, or discussion writing unit, discussing who is the greatest tennis player of all time: Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer. The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in third grade or fourth grade. Students will learn about the famous figures whilst working on their comprehension skills and developing their creative writing.

The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about the famous figures, and typing these on to an included fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual figures. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before typing up their work using the template provided.

This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Slides, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets or computers.
