This creative and printable board game has been developed to provide a foundation to explore anger management.

“”Keep My Cool” is a growth mindset board game which is great for students who may need some additional support with dealing with their anger.

Using the analogy of an “ice-cream” students are asked to reflect on their behaviour how they can keep their cool. This game encourages reflection and psycho-education around anger management, impulse control, self-control, emotional regulation.

There are over 115 reflective question cards with 23 cards in each of the five various color-coded areas. These include:

Self-Discovery – reflecting, learning and exploring their own anger

Triggers – reflecting on what makes them loose their cool.

Cool Down– exploring cool down, coping strategies and strategies

Feelings – exploring feelings, emotions and early warning signs

Regulation– exploring emotional regulation and what that looks and feels like

Next, I taught students how to draw a tree that has branches extending to the edge of the paper. I demonstrated how to outline and fill in the tree. Students created their own stained-glass tree artwork on Final Copy Paper. Students outlined and colored their artwork. Students used mostly watercolor paints for their artwork. For this assignment, I asked students to make an awesome artwork out of a simple “circle”. Students start with a brainstorming circle paper. Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?

Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual puzzles is all you need! If you choose to use the digital version to save paper and ink, then you will only need to print the QR codes for the Mission (get the kids to scan and read this first), Hint Cards and Puzzle Tasks 1-9.

Do I have to print out the Mystery Door for the game?

Nope! I suggest that you show the picture of the door + QR code on your phone or laptop for pupils to scan and enter their 4-digit secret code. You can also use an actual lock where the kids can actually enter the 4-digit secret codes to complete the game.

Why do I think you will love this product, and what makes my challenge set unique?

I love silly stories that bring humor and adventure to life for kids, but also that force them to use their imaginations in fun and exciting ways. This challenge task set does exactly that through the loose wacky stories where they are the main character. Silly scenarios, adventure and disaster, problem solving, and learning, are all part of the experience when building these challenges.

Most building challenge task cards are independent from each other. “Build a boat,” or “build an airplane,” are common themes among the cards. While those are fantastic, and we have done many of them ourselves, I wanted to do something different and more cohesive and engaging for kids.

The only rule is to HAVE FUN and allow those imaginations to soar!

How can you use these task cards?

⭐Have the task cards available in makerspaces, centers, tubs, busy boxes, morning baskets, as a reward, or available for early finishers to complete using ANY available materials. Students can even draw their creations instead of building them!

⭐Use one card or slide a day during morning time. Have students fill out a STEAM / STEM worksheet or slide, and discuss as a class.

⭐Use them for public speaking practice. Allow students to build and then show and tell with the class or their parents. They can discuss what they made, liked, what they would improve, and how it solved the problem on the task cards. They can practice speaking and listening skills, using loud and clear voices, and giving full attention to the speaker. Encourage students to ask questions to their classmates.

⭐Ideally the goal is to do one challenge a day, but you could certainly allow students to do more than one!

I love silly stories that bring humor and adventure to life for kids, but that also force them to use their imaginations in fun and exciting ways. This challenge task set does exactly that through the loose wacky stories where they are the main character. This creative Underwater Perspective Walkway: Art Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on the big screen.

For this assignment, I asked students to make an Underwater Perspective Walkway, celebrating the joy of 1-point perspective and sea life. Students brainstorm their ideas in a sketchbook, and learn how to draw in 1-point perspective (step-by-step demonstrations). Measurements w/ rulers and yardsticks are learned. A compass is used for the curves. Students take the sketch to Final Copy paper and outline important features. Materials will be mainly colored pencils and transparent watercolor blue wash paints. This is a 3-5-day assignment.
