Character Analysis Sidewalk Characters
By Beth Hammett
Character traits and analysis fun!
Have some outdoor fun (or use butcher paper for indoors) with sidewalk novel characters! Students choose a character from their novels then do body outlines with sidewalk chalk. Fill these with physical and character traits from quotes within the novel...full directions for implementing and making a competitive game. Can be used with all ages and novels. Excellent for comprehension and assessment.

The Night Before My Birthday by Natasha Wing - Reader's Theater
By Mr. Lee's Learners
This Reader's Theater is a companion activity to the book “The Night Before My Birthday” by Natasha Wing. It will enable the children to enjoy the story even more as well as increase reading fluency and speaking skills.
About the Book
The Night Before My Birthday captures all the excitement and anticipation that every child experiences in the lead-up to their special day. The decorations are up, the table is set, and the food is ready - but what happens when there is an ice cream emergency? Once again Natasha Wing has written a story that is sure to appeal to every child getting ready for a birthday. The book is told by and seen through the eyes of the birthday child, so it is gender neutral and a fun gift for any birthday girl or boy
There are two versions included. One version has roles for three students and the other version has roles for four students. Both versions are 4 pages. Please not that the last page of the book was omitted as it did not flow properly with the reader's theater.
I hope you enjoy using this reader’s theater with your students.
