This is a great sheet for following directions and coming up with a strategy to follow those directions. It checks reading comprehension and knowing left and right as well. I use it with 6th graders to show how important carefully following directions can be. It could easily be used with younger grades or possibly older grades as well.

Beyond the primary grades teachers often seem to forget about checking students reading fluency. This is a simple to use form for students to provide themselves a self-feedback on their read aloud fluency. Teachers can then use the same form to provide their own feedback on the students reading fluency. File states to use Audacity (a free download online) but other recording programs/devices may be used - this is just a personal choice/what is available on our school computers. I created these worksheets to allow students to use to context clues to find the meaning of unknown words. Students will find the given words within the novel "A Christmas Carol" and record the sentence in which the word can be found. Page numbers are provided to help with locating words. (Stave 2-5)

Students have the option to discuss the meaning of the words. They can either look up the meaning of the word or use context clues to define the words on their own.

I had the students complete these sheets after reading the section of the book, therefore the page numbers were helpful.
