Common Core Aligned:
Aligned to 3rd grade standard below, but could be beneficial for all upper elementary grades including 4th and 5th graders who need more support in deciphering whether a word problem indicates multiplication or division.
Students will practice:
Aligned to CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.A.3 Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and measurement quantities, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

WAYS TO USE TASK CARDS: Ideas for fun holiday math activities and other ways to engage students before winter break
Play SCOOT- Place each card on a desk and give students the recording sheet. Students will scoot between stations as they solve problems.
Set up a scavenger hunt- place cards around room as students do a gallery walk and work on solving problems in pairs or independently
Four Corners for multiple choice- Determine which corner of the room will represent answer A, B, C, and D: display a digital version of the Task Card, give students thinking time, then students go to the corner of the answer they choose.

Valentine's Day Nonfiction Reading Comprehension Task Card Escape Room Activity

Make learning about the history of Valentine's Day fun with this engaging, hands-on task card escape room. This activity includes 16 task cards that are broken down into 4 levels or puzzle types, giving students a chance to practice nonfiction reading comprehension skills while actively decoding puzzles.
