Celebrate the Christmas season with this engaging communal story-telling activity!

"Christmas Collaborative Story Time" is a communal story-telling activity in which students practice using Freytag's Pyramid plot structure in their own narrative writing. In this activity, each student begins a story inspired by a unique Christmas picture or photograph. They are prompted to write the exposition of the tale by introducing the setting and main characters. After the allotted amount of time, the story is then passed to another student who is prompted to write the inciting incident or conflict and begin to detail the rising action. The paper is passed from student to student twice more until the story is resolved. When the stories are finished, the worksheet is returned to the original student who can then make edits and is responsible for producing a final draft.

With this intrinsically engaging activity, each student has the chance to tap into their creativity while applying knowledge of the 7 steps of Freytag's Pyramid. It is a great activity to introduce or reinforce the plot diagram and is perfect for getting students in the Christmas spirit. Since it runs itself, the lesson is also great for substitute plans or on those days when you need a quick plan to get you through the day. I trust you will find that your students will ask for this activity again and again!

Introduce "Graphing Ordered pairs in the Coordinate grid" to your students and make this lesson incredibly easy with this January winter-themed bundle.

6 activities to help your students/kids wrap their heads around ordered pairs in the first quadrant coordinate plane, and to practice naming and plotting points on a grid.

Details and skills :

• Page 1: Introduce a lesson on graphing coordinates using a Map Grid skills learned in 2nd & 3rd grade. Students will use letters and numbers to locate each winter-themed object and record the coordinates.

• Page 2: Practice decoding the coordinates for different winter objects on a first-quadrant coordinate plane.

• Pages 3 & 4: Practice identifying coordinate pairs on a graph using snowflakes as points. The worksheet will also help your little learners practice visual discrimination skills, visual perception, and scanning.

• Page 5: Plot a number of coordinates to find a secret message. This can help motivate your students to try their best to get the message right by plotting the coordinates correctly and accurately.

• Page 6: Practice graphing skills by finding the ordered pairs of each winter object located on a "Snow Day" image drawn as a coordinate plane. This is also great to learn some useful winter vocabulary.

This is a perfect resource for the holidays! The 12 days of activities is perfect for a no prep easy activity each day during the holidays. The activities include: a holiday brainstorm, opinion writing about you favorite traditions, holiday Haikus, creating an ad, creating a holiday picture using quadrilaterals and triangles, writing multiplication word problems, writing letters, making words, elapsed time, creative writing, multiplication and more.

All the activities, except one, are no prep. All you need to do is print them off and use them. The one activity that isn't, you will need construction paper and that is all! This is perfect for 3rd grade as it aligns with the 3rd grade core. However you could use this for 3rd or higher as they need to have the multiplication background.
