Engaging Activity:

Students read a description of a number outlining the placement of numbers within a multidigit number. Students move the number described under the description.

Descriptions direct students to multiply by powers of ten to find the placement of the numerals within the place value.

Students manipulate Google Slides while practicing important math skills.

Math Decimal Place Value Pixel Art Review Activity Digital Worksheet

Let your students practice while having fun with this engaging no-prep and self-checking place value activity. Students will solve 20 problems (5 digits, with decimals) using Google Sheets. I used it as a sub-plan in sixth grade and the kids loved it. As they correctly answer the questions a mystery picture will be revealed.

Place Value Digit Treasure Hunt

Engaging practice involving place value:

Students enjoy this practice concerning decimal place value. This pirate themed activity has students rounding to tenths and hundredths, ordering decimal numbers, and multiply by powers of ten using exponents. These supporting skills are important for students to master in order to be successful in higher level math.

My students found this activity a fun, quick review of these skills to complete before moving onto deeper operations with decimals.
