If you're struggling to find an original and engaging activity for your beginner French students to practice and review regular ER, IR, and RE verbs, you are going to love these 3 listening comprehension and writing activities in the present tense. Peek at the preview for a closer look at these fun storyboard activities!

• Listen to the 15 pre-recorded present tense sentences being read
• Draw what you hear on the student response sheet provided
• Write the infinitive form of the verb being used in the sentence

These activities can be used for listening comprehension and written production at the same time, instructions included.

If your students have access to colored pencils you may choose to use the recordings that indicate which color they should use to draw and write. The color they should use is clearly indicated in French at the beginning or appropriate time in the reading of the sentence.

A recording without the use of colors is also included.

Some students will say they can’t draw, but stick figures should be encouraged! None of the sentences represent a real drawing challenge.

A FUN AND EFFECTIVE WAY TO HELP STUDENTS REMEMBER THEIR VERBS!

French Decodable texts BUNDLE that aligns with the Science of Reading are a NO PREP printable activity for the K-2 French classroom. Students practice endoding and decoding skills and build confidence in reading.

Make a few copies of each text and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Whatever way you choose to use this resource, I am so grateful that you have given this item a try!

Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Texts are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. Do your students struggle to grasp the difference between various verb endings? This verb-sorting activity will give them hands-on practice with this often tricky topic! In each of the three activities included in this bundle, your students will sort the given list of 36 conjugated Spanish verbs into six categories: yo, tú, él/ella/usted, nosotros, vosotros, and ellos/ellas/ustedes. You could easily adapt this activity for other tenses, simply by providing your own list. In addition to the hands-on practice, each resource also includes two worksheet versions with the same verbs.

All three resources in this bundle contain:

• one verb sorting sheet
• one page of thirty six conjugated verbs in Spanish with dotted lines for cutting
• one worksheet where students choose the correct subject pronoun and translate the verb to English

Quick, easy, and engaging Jeopardy style game to practice French avoir expressions. This PowerPoint activity includes all of the bells and whistles! Your students will love playing this game with their classmates, and it will save you a lot of time when looking for just the right activity to keep your students engaged. This game is perfect for avoir expressions quiz and test review, and a list of expressions used is included in French and English (see list below).

If your students haven't learned some of the expressions, you can give them the list to review before playing or even let them keep it out during the game except when it's their turn to play. This game is editable if you would like to omit or add certain expressions. If you decide to edit, please only edit the vocabulary used and do not change around anything else or all of the functions will not work. You need PowerPoint for this game to work correctly.

This is a version that I’ve worked out the kinks on over many years of playing it in my French middle school and high school classrooms.

The answers don’t have to be given in the form of a question unless you want to play that way.

My students absolutely love this game. They get very excited about it and always look forward to reviewing for quizzes and tests on "Jeopardy Day".
