In this full-length lesson plan, students will closely examine the final lines of Shakespearean characters before their deaths (if you know Shakespeare, there are quite a few!). Following a mini-lesson on the importance of these final words, students will take part in the classic game, Mafia, with a unique, Shakespearean twist. I invented the take on this game several years ago and it has become one of my students' and my favorite days of the whole school year. Secondly, there are four Biography Writing Units. These units focus on:

These units have each been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activities are ideal for distance learning. The first lessons are interactive and involve students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.

Finally there is a discussion based text writing unit that allows the children to research and discuss who was the most influential scientist. The unit has four complete lessons and comes with a PDF and Google Slides version.

This is a biography writing unit about the life and career of the National Youth Poet Laureate and reader of 'The Hill We Climb' during the 2021 Inauguration of Joe Biden, Amanda Gorman. The unit is ideal for 5th grade and 6th grade and has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in 5th grade or 6th grade learning about U.S. History.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.

This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Slides, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets or computers. If you are unsure how to allow the students to have their own individual copy take a look at the instructional video below:

In this lesson, students learn interesting facts about the invention of language as they complete several projects including a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuest for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. The student questions are included in both a print version and a digital (editable) version to make it easy for students to complete the lesson digitally or on paper. Also included with this lesson is a word search puzzle and an answer key, which is perfect for early finishers or as a part of the lesson.

This lesson is intended to be an introduction to the topic and was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary or high school as well. This lesson could be used in a history, English (ELAR), or technology class and is also a great lesson to leave for a substitute teacher!

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Included is a brainstorming section that students can complete using ...

1. Their notes taken in class

2. YouTube videos on the Palaeolithic and Neolithic Stone Age (shown to the class)

3. Independent research on a computer

When the brainstorming section is completed, students will transfer their ideas into the essay outline.

Have students type their final copy. Editing and peer review can take place at this point.

The result will be a well constructed compare and contrast essay on the Stone Age that students can be proud of.

In this lesson, students learn fun facts about the history of eBooks as they complete a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. Two versions of the WebQuest are included to let teachers print the questions or to provide them digitally as an interactive page in an editable Microsoft PowerPoint file. 

Teachers can provide students with links to the suggested websites to assist with their search, or they can use this lesson as a method of helping them increase their ability to search the Internet effectively for information. Another option is to provide students with the specific website where the answer for each question is found (included in the answer key) to simplify the lesson further if needed.

Also included is a word search puzzle, with an answer key for easy grading that can be used as an extension activity or as a part of the lesson.

This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary as well.

This resource is a 5th grade or 6th grade discussion based writing unit discussing what was William Shakespeare's greatest play: Macbeth, Hamlet or Romeo and Juliet. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about all three plays and typing these on to an included fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual plays. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before typing up their work using the template provided.
