This is an investigation activity that students can do independently or in groups to discover the patterns when converting fractions to repeating decimals. It provides examples of how to use long division to convert a fraction to a decimal and then has students apply the same strategy to other fractions with the same denominator. These examples make it great for a sub plan or for early finishers with no instruction needed from the teacher.

Students will investigate the patterns in the decimals for fractions with denominators of 9ths, 3rds and 7ths.

It includes reflection questions to generalize the patterns and apply them to make predictions.

Do your students need concrete or real-world examples before learning abstract concepts like slope? This introductory lesson to slope on a coordinate grid is perfect for you! It begins with a story about the steepness of cat stairs and ramps.

Lesson - Circumference of a Circle

This product includes notes to help introduce or review how to calculate the circumference of a circle when given either its radius or diameter. This product includes detailed notes for finding the circumference from both the diameter and radius that students can use as an quick reference, 8 practice problems and a 5 question exit ticket.

1. Using π=3, this is a helpful method to use for students who may struggle with doing basic calculations by hand or showing students how using 3 as an estimate of pi gives very close approximation of the true answer.

My goal for my products are for students to have solid, skill based resources that they can go back and reference at anytime. The notes section of my products include a detailed step by step explanation of each problem with all work shown. By including the steps for each skill this will help to comply with various accommodations we must provide our students. The practice section will include skill based practice problems similar to the example and at least one version of the various ways questions are asked. The quick check section will include at least one problem of each type of question that was seen in the practice section. A suggested use of these notes would be:

1. Initial Teach: Review any vocabulary and notes with the students to introduce the topic.
2. Guided Practice: Complete the practice section with students, either as a guided, with a partner, or independently. Review answers immediately.
3. Independent Practice: This will need to be supplemented, I personally prefer having students work on an online program which will provide instant feedback and a variety of questions. I prefer to have students utilize websites that will provide real time support and results to students. Another possibility would be to pair with one of my color by number assignments. This is good option because students have to find their answer on the coloring sheet, if their answer is not there they immediately know that a mistake was made and can has for assistance. Look for corresponding activities in the bundles listed here.
4. Assessment: The quick is a great informal assessment tool, this can be used as either an exit ticket or you may choose to take this as a grade depending on what works for you and your students.

Dear Educators,

   Every year my students struggle with division. The fear of  finding the right number to start the quotient paralyzes them. Over the years I’ve found a couple tricks to get my students started thinking of compatible numbers they could try as the quotient and then work backwards or forwards depending on the answer. The quick check section will include at least one problem of each type of question that was seen in the practice section. A suggested use of these notes would be:

1. Initial Teach: Review any vocabulary and notes with the students to introduce the topic.

2. Guided Practice: Complete the practice section with students, either as a guided, with a partner, or independently. Review answers immediately.

3. Independent Practice: This will need to be supplemented, I personally prefer having students work on an online program which will provide instant feedback and a variety of questions. I prefer to have students utilize websites that will provide real time support and results to students. Another possibility would be to pair with one of my color by number assignments. This is good option because students have to find their answer on the coloring sheet, if their answer is not there they immediately know that a mistake was made and can has for assistance. Look for corresponding activities in the bundles listed here.

4. Assessment: The quick is a great informal assessment tool, this can be used as either an exit ticket or you may choose to take this as a grade depending on what works for you and your students.

As technology is progressing, there are many fantastic software programs that schools are acquiring, I believe as students learn they must be receiving instant feedback on their work so they can grow and improve in real time. As a result, my products are focused solely on the skill itself. I am only including a small variety of questions for each topic, my intention is for students to use these notes as a guide as they practice and utilize whichever software/online program/additional practice you are providing.

Lesson - Surface Area of 3D Shapes

This product includes notes which can help to introduce or review the various attributes of Rectangular & Triangular Prisms and Rectangular & Triangular Prisms in both their net and three dimensional forms.

Intentions

My goal for my products are for students to have solid, skill based resources that they can go back and reference at anytime. The notes section of my products include a detailed step by step explanation of each problem with all work shown. By including the steps for each skill this will help to comply with various accommodations we must provide our students. The practice section will include skill based practice problems similar to the example and at least one version of the various ways questions are asked.
