Where Does Your Pathway Lead? (Matching College & Careers Activity)
By Reece's Tech Shop by Scott Reece
Explain what career options are available to your based on your interests and abilities.
Welcome to Engineering and Technology! Before we begin to see how engineering and technology affect our lives on a daily basis, let’s look at what is encompassed under the CTAE (Career, Technical and Agricultural Education) umbrella. We are going to do this by looking at a CTAE Pathway at the college level vs. a Math/Science Pathway at the college level. We are going to look at Kennesaw State University’s programs in several of these categories. Since KSU’s merger with Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Technology, this is a great place to look at several college options in each of these pathways.
This module includes 7 pages:
Vocabulary words
Links to Kennesaw State University - we use this school because it's close to us, but I also allow students to choose a college of their choice - they just have to look for their own links.

Basic Coding Activity in Excel (LEGO Programming Extension)
By Reece's Tech Shop by Scott Reece
Are you looking for an introductory activity to Coding that can easily be upgraded to extensive coding or robotic programming? This will activity will take you step by step to creating a "city" in EXCEL (we actually recreated the city that we built in our classroom, but you can just create it in EXCEL) and then shows you how to CODE out of the city. With the help of snip tools and pens, you have numerous coding challenges for Warm-Ups or Coding Extensions. Since we actually built the city, students applied what they coded to actual programs on the robots. It was a great experience!!

Simple machines have been the building blocks of more complex machines throughout the years. The gear is one of the most fundamental of the simple machines. Gears can help transfer power, increase or decrease speed and/or power, and change the direction of movement by simply working together.
Your students can experience gears through this activity as they build FOUR different gear sets .
Understanding how connected gears affect direction.
Compound Gear Train - gear input and output on the same side of a wall
Reverted Gear Train - input and output gears on same plane, but not directly connected
