These guided notes are a great way to instruct and/or review your ratios unit! Topics include introduction to ratios, equivalent ratios, modeling equivalent ratios (ratio table, double number line, tape diagram), rates and unit rates, graphing ratios, ratios as percent, and converting between fractions, decimals and percents. Each topic includes key vocabulary, step by step instructions, and practice problems. My students use their notebook as a key resource throughout the entire year. This lesson has everything you need to teach a "Thin Slicing" lesson on writing single variable equations from a word problem or real world scenario. These progressively challenging task cards start students with simple algebraic expressions and sentences, then lead students to write equations involving variables on both sides and equations with multiple unknown quantities. This lesson with printable task cards uses Building Thinking Classrooms strategies for teaching math created by Peter Liljedahl. If you have been looking to implement the Building Thinking Classrooms model of instruction, but don't know where to start, this is a great resource for you.
