A study of China's agricultural and environmental problems. Encourages higher-level thinking skills for problem-solving. Can be used in Geography, Social Studies, and World History. Students will have fun solving problems in China! Students get to research and choose which problem China is facing providing students autonomy in their learning. This is best used with cooperative groups, but can be easily adapted to an individual learning structure.

**Get your students moving through the United States while learning geography and math skills. **Students will move through the United States as they travel through seven destinations of their choice. This activity integrates math and geography, featuring map reading and measurement using a map scale. It includes calculations for gas costs, driving times, mileage, and more.

This resource encourages students to **problem-solve **while accurately using a map scale to plan a round trip across the United States. As students calculate distances, mileage, driving times, and gas expenses, they will develop higher-order thinking skills with real-life application.

This engaging activity empowers students to take ownership of their learning. Additionally, the instructions offer helpful tips on using yarn to teach how to measure distances on a road map. Students will learn how travel was done before GPS. Although we rely on GPS systems to get us from Point A to Point B, it is still important to know in today's digital age.

While GPS navigation systems and online mapping tools have made it easier to find our way around, having a good grasp of map scales can still come in handy. By using a map scale, students can accurately calculate distances on maps and understand the relationship between the physical size of the area being represented and its distance on the map. This skill can be useful for planning road trips, hiking excursions, or even understanding the layout of a city. Additionally, knowing how to read a map scale can help students develop spatial awareness and improve their overall geographical knowledge. So, while technology may make navigation more convenient, learning how to use a map scale is still a valuable skill that will never go out of style.

Information about the process it took and how it was rejected by different parts of the government is shared ranging from 1878 to the November 1920 election, what the women's suffrage movement was, who was involved, and what they did, President Woodrow Wilson, Harry Burn, Senator Aaron A. Sargent, Ellen Clark Sargent, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Susan B. Anthony and the role that each of them had in the passing of the 19th Amendment, students will learn about Congress - the Senate and the House of Representatives, and will briefly learn about the 3 Branches of Government to help students understand which branch helped pass the 19th Amendment, students will briefly learn about who was involved in World War I and what happened at the end of World War I, why women became involved in World War I, what their roles were in World War I, what jobs women had during this time, and how this lead to the 19th Amendment. Students will also learn about how the 19th Amendment in 1869 was different from 1920 and why, how the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was important as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, students will also learn about when women could vote in 15 states from 1869 - 1918, and the first states to ratify the 19 Amendment.

The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. In our global society, our students need to understand how **cultures are developed **and how they adapt to and adopt practices and beliefs from others through cultural diffusion. As students understand cultures vs subcultures, it will help them navigate and appreciate the diverse world we live in. In this lesson, students will look at "the American culture" vs its subcultures.

Students will enjoy working in **cooperative groups **to create a collage that illustrates various American subcultures. This activity will require them to use **higher-order thinking skills **as they analyze, compare, and evaluate American culture alongside its subcultures.

Additionally, students will complete a short preliminary assignment in which they will interpret a political cartoon. This approach caters to** visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners** in grades 5 through 12, ensuring that even older students will find it engaging!

This is a great way to get students moving, collaborating and learning about Latin America Geography! This lesson/activity encourage students to develop higher-level thinking skills. The more they practice, the better their thinking strategies will become.

Students will complete a K-W-L Chart prior to the lesson while watching a suggested Intro video to peak their interest.

Students will work in teams and will rotate around (like a carousel) from one picture to another, spending 1-2 minutes at each and brainstorming the answers to the questions on each. Students will write their ideas on the chart paper at each station. Allow students add additional knowledge/terms to the chart if they wish. This will act as an extension of their learning.

Students will develop a one sentence summary of the main ideas and present it to the class. Students will be given blank maps to fill in the ideas presented as a listening/comprehension activity.

The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. After reviewing and discussing the notes, there is a review packet that goes through everything that was discussed in the notes. This is a great way to get your students excited about studying a historical or current figure. Students use research and inference skills to create a resume for a historical or current figure. The example given is Mao Zedong's Resume'. Students will create an objective as to what job the character is applying. The character's education, work experience, etc. will be included. This will enhance the student's comprehension of who the character is and/or was.

This lesson comes complete with a resume layout pdf form for a simple printout as a guide sheet as well as a fillable PDF that can be given to students to fill in at a computer. for easy modifications. a resume' activity sheet, example resume, and grading rubric.

Although this lesson plan is written specifically for World History, character maps can be used at antime that you are studying a character or historical individual. This lesson plan is easy to modify for language arts, English, reading, social studies, science, and other content areas. It is easy to use and can be included in your lesson plans time and time again. Students may need some assistance in the beginning stages of the assignment, but once the students understand the concept behind character analysis they will love this activity. All students can be successful in this process. This lesson is specifically designed to explore and analyze Alexander the Great. This product was made for students to learn the following:

In this product, students will learn about the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, and North and South Notes and Review. Vocabulary covered: raw materials, free states and slave states as of 1820, trains, factories, Eli Whitney, cotton, and slaves. A vocabulary review is included as well as a fill in the blank vocabulary review that includes a key.

Students will learn about the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, and North and South Notes and Review. The United States government will be initially reviewed to review who Congress and the Senate is, but the House of Representatives and the three branches of government. The North and South are reviewed in this product that includes the years between 1820 - 1860.

The North: What was used at this time to run machines, who owned machines, how machines were powered, how and why cities started to develop, how raw materials and factories relate with one another, the use of the railroad brought factory products to people, working conditions in factories, and changes in cities that took place

The South: Cotton was growing on plantations and farms in the South, who worked on these plantations, how plantations grew and who worked on these farms, who invented the cotton gin, what the cotton gin did and how it was different from removing seeds by hand and how much time was saved, what cotton was known for in the South, who worked on plantations and how they were treated, and the kind of work slaves were required to do in the South.

The Missouri Compromise:

In 1820, how many states were free states and how many states were slave states. The argument that the North and South had with each other about wanting Missouri to be on their side and why, what people wanted in the North and what people wanted in the South after the Missouri Compromise, why the North and South were divided, which states became free states and slaves states between 1820-1850, the Compromise of 1850 and what it entailed, and when slavery ended.

The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. Throughout the product, after each page of notes is reviewed, students will answer short answer comprehension questions. At the end of the product, students are provided with a review that includes multiple choice questions and short answer questions.

How important is teaching globalization and economic interdependence?

Globalization and Interdependence describes the relationships of mutual dependence between all elements and life forms (including humans) within and across cultures, environments, and social systems. Today, more than ever before, globalization and interdependence are part of our everyday local lives. We are linked to others on every continent even if we don't realize it. We are linked through social media and telecommunications, the movement of people and ideas (culture), international trade, the environment as we share the planet, and through international political relations and regulations. The easiest way to teach interdependence no matter one's age is to address international trade. Through this PowerPoint, students will become aware of people and events that played an integral part in shaping the 20th Century. It is encouraging that the teacher removes or mutes the free song included in the PowerPoint and plays Billy Joel's 1989 Hit: We Didn't Start The Fire, which depicts major events and people who influence the 20th Century written about in Joel's song.
