Veterans Day Word Search and I Spy Worksheets

Create an Ancient Greek City-State: 6th Studies Weekly Week 10

Review Ancient Greek City-States Creatively:
Students will read informational text to review what they have learned concerning Ancient Greek city-states. This text is also a good overview of city-states for those students who haven't learned about Ancient Greek city-states. This informational text sheet also includes instructions about the project.
Students will use their creativity to make a map of their own city-state and fill out an information sheet detailing the specifics of their city-state. Students will determine government, class system, education, economy, and other important facets of their city-states. Can be completed individually, with a partner, or in a group.
Follow up questions are provided for early finishers, written assignment, or to start classroom discussion. These questions increase rigor and allows for students to make connections.
Students will demonstrate their knowledge of Ancient Greek city-states by creating their own.
Aligns with Indiana Social Studies Standards: 6.H.1, 6.H.2.

Research Alexander the Great and decide:
Students will research Alexander the Great and then decide if he was great good or great bad. They will use a graphic organizer to organize their data and then present their position.
Students can complete a poster, Google Slide presentation, essay, or debate. Printable information/instruction sheets are provided for each project. A digital version includes information and instructions for the Google Slide activity.
Students will be practice making informed opinions based on research.
Follow up questions increase rigor and help students make connections.
Aligns with Indiana Social Studies Standard 6.H.1.

Create your own Egyptian Burial Chamber: 6th Studies Weekly Week 7

Hands on project exploring your own Egyptian Burial Chamber:
Students will love sharing their story for the generations to come when creating their own version of an Egyptian Burial Chamber. Beginning with an informational text concerning these burial chambers, students will be engaged while creating their own.
There are four versions of this project which teachers can choose from for their students: written, drawing, model, and Google Slides. Instructions are provided for each of these projects. The projects have labels for students to complete which can be attached to the project for display.
Follow up questions will allow for increased rigor and encourages students to make connections to modern day.

Great Inventions - Television | Distance Learning

In this lesson, students learn interesting facts about the invention of television as they complete several projects including a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuest for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. The student questions are included in both a print version and a digital (editable) version to make it easy for students to complete the lesson digitally or on paper. Also included with this lesson is an editable acrostic puzzle that can be printed for students or completed on the computer (file provided in MS Word which can be opened in Google Docs if you prefer). It includes two versions of the puzzle for differentiation and an answer key, which is perfect for early finishers or as a part of the lesson.

Influential Leaders of 20th Century - Presentation Project | Distance Learning

In this lesson, students learn about influential leaders from the 20th century and their work. Students choose an individual of interest (on their own or from a provided list) and then research specific information about them, creating a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides or using a Web 2.0 tool. Teacher and student resources are provided for the lesson, along with full instructions and project expectation, including a grading rubric. A list of famous people from the 20th Century is included separately for student choice (or students can choose an individual of interest on their own). This list is also included as a sign-up sheet in case the teacher wants each student to do a different person. Two versions of the lesson are included to let teachers decide if they prefer to have students use the more traditional presentation tools of Microsoft Office or Google Slides or, if they prefer to give students a choice of those and various free Web 2.0 tools such as Prezi, eMaze, or Canva. Links for tutorials are provided for all suggested software choices in the student resources.
This lesson can be completed individually, in pairs or in groups, depending on the teacher’s preference. All resources are fully editable, so that it can be easily modified for any classroom.
Perfect for business, history, social studies or career exploration classes. This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in any secondary classroom.

Classical Music in Modern Day Life - Puzzle & Presentation Project

In this lesson, students learn fun facts about the use of classical music in modern day life such as movies, television, and video games as they research different uses of classical music in modern day life. No download is required to use Canva (www.canva.com) - a free product, making it easy for teachers who are not able to download software on classroom computers to still give their students a choice in learning. Options for using Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides are also included for use if the teacher prefers.
In these lessons, students are provided with a quick tutorial for Canva, as well as links to other resources to help them with their designs. The tutorial is intended to help students get started with the program and then use the resources within the program to refine their creations. Links are included to tutorials for Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides. Students create a presentation with examples of classical music used in their own lives after researching the topic. They use that information along with graphics, pictures and backgrounds from the Internet and also supplied in Canva, to create a finished presentation that explains their topic, and add their own opinions and insights to the project. A word search puzzle is also included (with answer key) for early finishers or as a part of the lesson.
This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary or high school classes as well. Great to leave for a sub or to use for distance learning too.

· Computers with Internet access for each student (or pair of students)
