This 3-page printable activity gives students three increasingly challenging scenarios in which they must create, graph, and use a linear function based on the menu of a fast food burger chain.

Great as a summation activity at the end of a linear function unit, this differentiated task starts students with a basic proportional situation, then increases in challenge in each following task. As students reach each new task, the teacher can assess how students are doing along the way and use this formative assessment to help guide any needed intervention before there is an assessment.

This lesson can be done as a whole class direct instruction lesson, as a partner activity, or even with whole table groups to encourage problem solving and math discussion.
