Works with any documentary. Students fill out worksheet during and after a film. Great way to practice release of responsibility and ensure students are paying attention to the film. Works well in Language Arts and History classes.

In this fun one-day activity, students learn about the technology and history of haunted houses, as they complete a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. Students can be provided with the sites that have the answers (below in Student Resources) or directed to search the Internet on their own. Two versions of the WebQuest are included to let teachers print the questions or to provide them digitally as an interactive page in an editable Microsoft PowerPoint file. This lesson focuses on the innovations and inventions that are borne from tragedy, specifically as it relates to 9/11. This is perfect for technology class or for use in a Social Studies or History classroom that wants to incorporate technology with a lesson for Patriot Day, September 11th.

Students work in pairs or small groups to create a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint (or Google Slides) about some of the things that were invented because of the disaster that occurred on 9/11 after researching them. They use the information gained from their research to create a finished presentation that explains a few of the inventions inspired by that disaster and add their own opinions and insights to it.

The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with upper elementary or high school students.

Creating a Timeline using Tiki-Toki utilizes the free Web 2.0 tool www.tiki-toki.com which allows students to create timelines online and then share their finished product. No download is required to use the product, making it easy for teachers who are not able to download software on classroom computers to still give their students a choice in learning.

In these lessons, students are provided with a quick tutorial, as well as links to other resources to help them with their projects. The tutorial is intended to help students get started with the program and then use the resources within the program to refine their creations.
