Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this product include: biome, climate, world biomes, tundra, permafrost, taiga, temperate forests, tropical rainforests, grasslands, desert, savanna, prairies, deforestation, and forage.
These notes can also be used as adapted notes for students who need more support. This packet includes notes on each of the 7 world biomes, maps showing where each of the biomes are located, animals that live on each biome, and facts/information about each biome, short answer comprehension questions are provided after information about each biome is presented. As our Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL students are completing written assignments, little words/parts of speech that are commonly confused when writing with words such as there, their, and they're. My students are confusing them for each other continuously. The words there, their, and they're are emphasized in this product. Students will determine if there, their, and they're belong in each sentence, circle the correct use of the word there, their, and they're in sentences, write sentences using there, their, and they're when looking at different picture scenarios, and will write there, their, or they're to complete each sentence. Students are provided space to make up their own sentences using there, their, and they're as well.

This product was made for students to learn the following: that different people come to America, the first Americans - Indigenous Peoples, review of directions when going from one place to another in the world, what the first Americans ate, where they lived, what was used to build houses, how they found food, how they made tools and clothes, the first explorers, who the Vikings were, where the Vikings traveled, what colonies, a colony, and colonists are, how colonists and Indigenous Peoples lived on the same land, slaves, brief discussion of the Civil War, and immigrants coming to America to start a new life.
Adapted notes are provided along with an independent review after each slide. Students will be required to fill in the blanks using a key, answer short answer questions without a key, complete multiple choice questions, and look at a graph and answer short answer questions.
Students can complete the review independently, with support, or it can be used as an assessment as well.

Adapted Reading & Writing Assessment Pre-Primer - Third Grade

This product can be used with students as an informal/formal adapted assessment. Students will be required to identify the pre-primer, primer, 1st grade,2nd grade, and/or 3rd grade Dolch sight words. If students begin at the pre-primer level and are able to identify a specific amount of each section of sight words, they are going to be ranked as independent, instructional, or frustration when identifying those sight words. Students are then provided with a sentence or brief comprehension passage for each Dolch sight word list. The questions and short passages have been adapted and shortened compared to other reading assessments so baseline data can be collected, especially with those students are struggling. This will help gauge where students need the most support in terms of identifying sight words, reading simple sentences/passages, and answering comprehension questions that relate with what is read.
