DESERT ISLAND EXPLORERS | FRENCH/ENGLISH | LONG TERM SUB PLANS | LESSON PLANS
By French Made Fun!
Desert Island Explorer is an engaging, two-week game-based sub unit designed for grades 5 to 9, offering an immersive and bilingual experience centered around the theme of desert islands. This project-based learning module combines elements of language arts, science, and teamwork to enhance students' critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative skills.
Nothing is more stressful than having to leave work for an extended time: our profession requires us to plan, to create engaging resources, and to assume the subs covering have French capabilities. We all know that's... not the reality of this profession. When you've gotta be out, you've gotta be out, and frankly, when you're in this position, you've not got the time, energy or mental health to allow for this level of planning. That's where I come in! This ressource covers you for roughly two weeks: providing your sub with direction in English, and activities in both English and French to ensure a seamless absence... And if you aren't actually out (or maybe you're checked out and just a body in the room!) but just want someone to tell you what to do for 2 weeks, this checks out for that, too.
I integrate discussion-based prompts, writing activities, reading activities, film watching, reflections, games, math tasks, group work, projects, presentations, art tasks - just about everything to keep them engaged while you're away! This is a clear and engaging this resource for your next emergency absence.
In this mega crypt of activities relating to desert island survival, you'll discover the following activities:
Hopefully this provides a sense of relief and calm to you in this time of need!

FRENCH | BACK-TO-SCHOOL/RENTRÉE | 4 CORNERS/4 COINS | ICEBREAKER | GET TO KNOW
By French Made Fun!
This is a freebie for you!
This game of "Four Corners" is not new or unique; however, this one will work great for your middle schoolers who need to get up and move, and you'll find they are more apt to share without raising their hands or writing it down. This quick and easy, no prep and no printing activity will allow you to truly get to know them on a personal level very quickly.
It's HIGHLY visual so this could even fly in a Core French classroom (Grades 5 - 9); however, I use it in an immersion setting (Grades 5 and 6). It could comfortably be used in any Immersion or French first-language classroom (Grades 3 - 9). As with all of my products, it's not at all babyish and doesn't feature fonts that are frilly or hard-to-read.
For this activity, simply project and GO. I let my students know that they will have to choose their response and move to the corner of the room that suits their answer. You can either click through the slides, have a student touch your SmartBoard to move them along, or you can use a remote clicker or mouse (I do while I'm playing!) to keep the slides rolling.
This Google Slide Deck features :
Other ways to play:
I hope you have a G R E A T back-to-school, and hope your kids love you! I sure appreciate all of you!
Don't forget to have fun and be real!

French Indirect Object Pronouns - It's not Fair Game
By Frenchified
French indirect object pronouns can be tricky - students may have trouble determining what an indirect object is, or how to choose what pronoun to use, or where it goes in the sentence. This game will help them to practice and master the concept, but in a fun and exciting way.
Your students will love and hate the It's not fair Game! Students will pick questions from the game board. Each question has a sentence with an indirect object that can be replaced by a indirect object pronoun - lui or leur. If they answer correctly, they can keep the points or pass them to another team - but they won't know how many points they've "won" until they make their decision.
This item contains instructions for the game and a PowerPoint game board. The boards are fully editable, so adjust the questions and point values as needed for your classes.
