Homeschool Algebra Workbooks (by date, oldest first)

This is the fourth worksheet in our Introducing Algebra series.

This pack is filled with worksheets designed to introduce students to introduce students to forming equations and solving unknown on both sides and with brackets/parentheses. It contains both British English and American English terminology, and each worksheet is differentiated 3 ways.

Also included are the same worksheets, but put into differentiated workbooks, so you can hand these to your students to use as homework, or an ongoing project.

The worksheets consist of the following:

Worksheet 1 Forming Equations - introduces students to writing equations from words into an algebraic sentences.

Worksheet 2 Balancing Unknowns - introduces students to balancing unknowns on both sides using scales.

Worksheet 3 Unknown Both Sides Equations - puts into practice solving equations with unknown on both sides.

Worksheet 4 Equations with Parentheses - introduces students to solving equations with brackets/parentheses.

Worksheet 5 Solving Equations Secret Code - uses both unknown on both sides and brackets/parentheses, where solving the equations reveals a fun fact.

Worksheet 6 Solving Equations Maze - similar to worksheet five, except students follow a maze, with the correct solutions revealing the right path. Other potential solutions have been chosen to reveal common misconceptions.

Worksheet 7 Mosaic Equations - a fun activity involving solving equations and shading a corresponding pattern from an answer key. The result is a mosaic picture.

Worksheet 8 Unknown Both Sides Crosswords - a crossword featuring some challenging unknowns on both sides including using fractions.

Worksheet 9 Equation of Letters - challenging word problems involving forming and solving equations in a unique set up.

Worksheet 10 More Geometry Equations - covers forming and solving equations with geometry questions.
