Firstly, there is a great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to some of the key events from the American Revolutionary War. There are 29 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from the time period.
Secondly, there is a close reading activity - children need to read through an informational text, and then answer comprehension and grammar questions, before completing an extension activity, crossword puzzle and wordsearch activity.

Firstly, there are eight reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:
- Charlemagne
- William the Conqueror
- King Richard I
- Robin Hood
- Genghis Khan
- Joan of Arc
- The Renaissance
- The War of the Roses
These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity, a crossword and a wordsearch for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.
Then, there are three biography writing units about Charlemagne, Joan of Arc and William the Conqueror. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

By Creative Primary Literacy
These easy to use, no prep, substitution plans give you an ideal back up plan to have ready in your classroom just in case. The bundle contains six close reading activities about kings and queens from British history, and four biography writing units. Ideal for emergency sub plans in 3rd grade or 4th grade. The activities focus on Elizabeth II, William the Conqueror, George III, Henry VIII, Richard I and Elizabeth I.

Firstly, there are six reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:
- Elizabeth II
- William the Conqueror
- George III
- Henry VIII
- Richard I
- Elizabeth I
These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.
Then, there are four biography writing units about Elizabeth II, William the Conqueror, George III and Henry VIII. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Completed with a partner, students will analyze how writers use metaphors in poetry by looking at examples. The PDF provides multiple examples to guide students. They will then read and analyze a mentor poem and utilize the same structure to write their poem. They will love creating their poems and watching their ideas come to life! This well-organized activity allows students to effortlessly become poets, while thinking about concise and precise word choice, counting syllables to create rhythm, getting exposure to high-quality examples, and learning something new! This project should take about 2 weeks, from start to finish and is perfect for display.

I always choose Finalistsbased on poem structure, meaning and how they visualized their metaphor. I then ask another teacher to select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. And of course, the winners get a prize!

Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, why we write a play, who we write a play for, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write with a play using a graphic organizer and an example of a play. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a biography and the steps that are taken to add onto a biography to be sure it includes a beginning, middle and end. On the last few pages, it includes a template to help students come up with possible story ideas, add onto each paragraph they will include in their biography, and a reference sheet. Space to write a rough draft as well as a final draft is included.
