I feel like I can never have too many ways to have my students practice the French verbs être and avoir. The present tense conjugations are tricky to master, and it's equally important to know when to use them because it's frequently different in English.

In this exercise, 25 sentences are written in the present tense offering multiple choice answers so that students can choose between être and avoir based on context.

Être - Present Tense French Tic Tac Toe Games - No Prep Printable

Tic Tac Toe is a fun game that your students already know how to play, and it is a simple way to get them conjugating, writing, and speaking the French verb être in the present tense.

This resource includes two worksheets with 6 tic-tac-toe grids per page. One worksheet is for speaking answers, and the other one is for writing them. Photocopy on the front and back for a no-prep set of 12 grids for differentiated learning.

Students play in pairs, conjugating être so that it agrees with the subject pronoun in each box, saying answers aloud or writing them to claim squares on tic tac toe grids. This is a worksheet to use while reviewing verb tenses with your advanced French students. It's great to use as a challenging AP or French 4 review.

9 tenses are represented in this worksheet: présent, passé composé, imparfait, futur simple, futur antérieur, plus-que-parfait, subjonctif, conditionnel, conditionnel passé.

There are 20 sentences to complete. The correct verb tense and infinitive are in parentheses. This quiz is to assess written formation of the different tenses, and not necessarily when to use each of them.

Once your students have completed the exercise, you have an excellent opportunity to go over the answers together, and to talk about why each tense was chosen for that particular situation. For more advanced French AP tense review, check out Name That Tense.

These 30 questions are just right for beginners who need to practice the FUTUR PROCHE, and they are a perfect no prep speaking activity for busy teachers. Each EST-CE QUE question uses the verb ALLER with infinitives. In order to avoid OUI and NON answers, each question also includes an interrogative word which is great practice in helping to remember what they mean and where they're placed in the sentence.

Since all of the questions are asked in the TU form, all of the answers will be in the first person singular. This is so that students can really focus and get used to using these verbs when talking about themselves and when talking to a friend.

Just cut out the 30 cards, punch holes in the spaces provided and attach the stack of cards with a key ring. It would be a great idea to print on card stock and laminate the cards before punching holes and attaching them. Super easy and no prep for years to come. Both black and white and color versions are included as well as a 2 page print out of the questions if you should decide to use them as a quiz or homework assignment.

Repetition is key in learning a language, and that's why I've created many different versions of these speaking cards. All of the cards ask the same basic questions, but each time in a different tense. My students really appreciate the familiarity of the cards even when learning a new tense.

The focus of these exercises is to choose correctly between definite and indefinite articles. Sometimes it is difficult when students don't know if the noun in question is masculine or feminine. That's why there is one worksheet that uses only masculine & singular nouns, another that uses only feminine & singular nouns, and one more that uses only plural nouns, masculine and feminine.

You'll notice that the vocabulary used is more advanced than what it is when you first teach articles. These exercises are really to help non-beginners who still struggle to remember how and when to use definite and indefinite articles.

One page text of about 500 words in which students complete the sentences by filling in the blanks by conjugating the infinitive in parentheses in either the subjunctive or the indicative (they choose the appropriate tense given the context). Prendre - Present Tense French Tic Tac Toe Games - No Prep Printable

Tic Tac Toe is a fun game that your students already know how to play, and it is a simple way to get them conjugating, writing, and speaking the French verb boire in the present tense.

This resource includes two worksheets with 6 tic-tac-toe grids per page. One worksheet is for speaking answers, and the other one is for writing them. Photocopy on the front and back for a no-prep set of 12 grids for differentiated learning.

Students play in pairs, conjugating boire so that it agrees with the subject pronoun in each box, saying answers aloud or writing them to claim squares on tic tac toe grids. Three correctly conjugated verbs in a row wins the game. Students need to use different colored pens or markers when writing their answers.
