Graphing Smarties was created as a fun activity for my students to complete while learning from home during the Coronavirus closure. However, the work can be easily completed in the classroom setting.
I wanted to give them a treat but incorporate learning fun too! To complete the activity I sent two packages of Smarties to each student along with the worksheet.
Two versions of the activity are included. The first can be used in the classroom. The second has a note asking students email a picture of their completed graph to the teacher.
I hope your students enjoy this fun graphing activity. Please leave your comments and feedback, I enjoy hearing from you. Also, I would love to have you follow me to receive notifications about my new TeachShare products, sales, and freebies.
Thanks for visiting and checking out my store!

This activity offers a different way to teach tally and bar graphs. Students choose 20 firework cards from the firework deck (or any amount you choose from the 45 cards). We find that 20 cards offers the most interesting collection to work with.
Students are invited to collect the data of their chosen cards and write it on the tally sheet. Finally, the students will then plot it on a bar graph.
The nature of this activity means that each student should, in theory, produce their own tally and bar graph, unique from other students in the class.
We have also included both a UK and a US version of each sheet to account for the different spelling of the word colour/color, as well as differentiated versions of the worksheets themselves for those who need a little help with matching the fireworks to the value they need to tally.
Halloween Line Plots: 3rd Grade: Interpret Data & Create Your Own
By E•Fish•ient Teaching
Get ready for a Halloween themed line plot adventure! These two line plots are perfect for engaging students in data analysis and creative thinking. These line plots will make graphing both fun and festive. One line plot teaches students how to read and interpret the data on a plot. The other line plot has students gather data and create their own line plot. These line plots are perfect for the 3rd grade curriculum.
Key Features:
Line Plot 1: Read and Analyze
Dive into a fun filled line plot where students will read the plot and answer questions that challenge their comprehension and analytical skills. This activity promotes critical thinking and reinforces key math concepts in a fun, thematic way.
Line Plot 2: Create Your Own Line Plot
Let your students become data creators! In this hands-on-activity, students will gather their own Halloween themed data to construct their own line plot. Students will draw pumpkin faces in a given time and then use the class data to create their own line plot. A page of questions to analyze their own data is included for students to answer after they have finished.
Make math a treat this Halloween with these fun and engaging line plots. Introduce line plots or reinforce what they already know, these line plots will captivate your students and enhance their understanding of data analysis.
