This resource contains twelve non-fiction texts about some very interesting animals that I've encountered. It was made with the NGSS in the area of life sciences in mind. The articles are on a low to high third-grade reading level, but the passages are even interesting for adults! They are perfect for early finishers, for use in centers, and for whole and small group reading.

This resource is an introduction to natural disasters. It contains five informational reading passages about natural disasters. It was made for the NGSS 3-ESS3-1 and 4-ESS3-2 Earth and Human Activity Standards. It covers the following

natural disasters:

Earthquakes

Floods

Hurricanes

Tornadoes

Volcanoes

The passages were written with third graders in mind, but the information is very interesting and complex and would be useful for upper grades as well.

There is a tips sheet for teachers and two recording sheetsfor students. One recording sheet is a graphic organizer for students to fill in as they read. The other one asks them to draw and label the natural disaster they have studied.

These are great to use with the whole class, in small groups, with partners, and even at centers!

Firstly, there is a great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to some of the key events from the Revolutionary War. There are 29 posters or task cards that include many of the key figures and events from the time period.

Secondly, there is a close reading activity - children need to read through an informational text, and then answer comprehension and grammar questions, before completing an extension activity.

Finally, there is an informational text writing unit. The unit has been split into three separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. Ideal for students learning about the American Revolutionary War.
