It involves observing a situation, then using clues with background knowledge to figure out what has happened or what is happening. The ability to make social inferences is an essential social skill. 30 Pictures on Task Cards ONLY (PDF)

If you work with children with severe disabilities or kids who struggle significantly with writing, a “Just Pictures” section is included. This will allow all students a chance to make social inferences. You can use these Task Cards in small groups, during guided instruction, or put under a projector or on the smartboard, so students can make inferences whole-class.

30 Pictures on Worksheets with Lines (Higher Level – Print and Digital)

These worksheets include the pictures with lines so students can make their own social inferences without guidance and explain them. The directions ask students to also support their inferences with evidence from the pictures.

30 Pictures on Worksheets with a Blank T-Chart (Mid-Level – Print and Digital)

These worksheets include the pictures with a blank T-Chart ("Social Inference" is titled in the first column, and "Picture Evidence" is titled in the second column). The directions ask students to make three social inferences and support their inferences with evidence from the pictures.

30 Pictures on Worksheets with T-Chart Partially Filled (Low-Level – Print and Digital)

These worksheets also include a T-Chart table that is partially filled to help get students who need the additional support thinking. The table includes (or provides) one social inference, where students only need to add the evidence. It also includes a piece of evidence from the picture in which they are asked to make an inference based on the piece of evidence provided. Then they make one social inference and support it with a piece of picture evidence on their own.

There’s no escaping embarrassing moments! They’re inevitable. Embarrassing moments are too common and are a given part of existence. They happen to me ALL THE TIME (please don't get me started!), will happen to you, and everyone else, especially young teens and adolescence. Although embarrassing things that happen to you are funny to others, it can induce shameful feelings, cause your pulse to race, make you turn red, and go as far as lowering your self-esteem.

✅ This resource provides students opportunities to share personal experiences and discuss strategies that can be used to recover from these embarrassing moments, turn embarrassing moments around to their advantage, and even make them new learning experiences!

✅ These scenarios, from two different perspectives, can be used to develop all kinds of social and life skills! Mini Lesson / Guided Practice / Do Now: You can use 1-2 scenarios to teach/show students the difference between a Growth Mindset and a Fixed Mindset, or you can use them as a launch activity to prepare students for an upcoming lesson.
Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate the differences between a fixed mindset and growth mindset. Role-playing activities can be used to expose students to the variety of ways they can approach situations with a growth mindset. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.
Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.
Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skit for the class.
Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios.
Discussion: Students can discuss the Fixed vs. Growth Mindset Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like “What would you do?”, “Why would you do that?”, and “What are some other ways you can approach this situation with a growth mindset?”

This Functional Life Skills Filing Task Box Set set is an excellent way to get your students started with task boxes in their independent work stations this year! The bundle includes three stages of learning to file from identifying and matching colors, learning the basics of filing (placing cards behind a tabbed divider), and moving on to filing alphabetically by last name. All levels include scaffolded teaching strategies and prompt cards as you move students through the different stages of this vocational skill.

All images are age appropriate - including primary, upper elementary, secondary, right through to adult. There are non reading options in the color sets for students who are still emergent readers. These activities can be laminated and placed in task boxes or file folders, allowing them to be prepped once and reused with all of your students!
