There are many ways you can use this set of task cards:

• Print, laminate, create small groups to ask and answer questions.
• Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing.
• Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.
• Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.
• Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.
• Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.
• Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included.

Spanish students can practice conversing with these simulated conversations.  Answering questions can be difficult for students, but these 5 (MORE) interpersonal speaking tasks give students some general information about what they will hear and how they should answer.  An audio link accompanies each conversation, with a 20 second timed pause for students to answer.  There is also a rubric for easy feedback!

These simulated conversations mimic the AP Spanish Simulated Conversation task and are also great practice for Seal of Biliteracy tests (like AAPPL) where interpersonal speaking is one of the tasks. Start practicing early!

Are your Spanish students preparing to take a test for the Seal of Biliteracy? Here are 15 interpersonal listening/speaking prompts designed to help them succeed on the AAPPL Test.   Build speaking proficiency by allowing students to listen to the recorded prompts and record their own responses.

This activity is designed to mimic the AAPPL test in that there are multiple prompts about lots of subjects.  The prompts will ask students to respond with their own information, or to ask questions.  The prompts become more complex as they go, and move between present and past tenses primarily.

The prompts are recorded for you, but the teacher script is also provided in case you want to record your own voice or set this activity up in language lab software.  If you don’t have a language lab, this activity is easy to use as a whole class or to post on your learning platform.  

Also included are teacher instructions and options for how to use this resource, hints and strategies about this portion of the AAPPL test, student self-assessment rubric and a teacher rubric!

Être ou Avoir - Passé Composé Board Game This passé composé board game is perfect whether you're teaching regular French verbs with avoir, verbs that use être as helping verb (including reflexive verbs), or for when you're ready to mix up regular and irregular verbs which use either être or avoir. ⇒This resource is included in my French 2 grammar, vocabulary, task cards, games and activities GROWING BUNDLE
Game includes: game board (black and white and color copies included) 50 être passé composé game cards (reflexive verbs included) 50 avoir passé composé game cards (all regular verbs) 50 être or avoir passé composé game cards (regular and irregular + reflexives) How to play Not included: 1 die per group game tokens, 1 per player All you have to do is print the game cards that you want to use on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you'll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Put the game cards in a stack and divide your students into small teams. Give each team gets a stack of questions. This grammar board game has a grid of 35 boxes. The first player to reach box 35 wins. There are lots of fun tricks along the way, so getting to the end isn’t always so easy! In groups of two to four, players take turns rolling a die to move their piece forward. Spaces are numbered and players follow the arrows to keep track of which way they’re moving. There are some spaces with special instructions: Départ - Start Avance de 5 cases - Move forward 5 spaces Recule de 5 cases - Move backward 5 spaces Rejoue - Play again Tu perds ton tour - Lose a turn Fin - End Use the passé composé question cards so that students must answer after rolling in order to move forward. If students answer the question correctly, they can move forward. If not, it’s the next player’s turn. There is a total of 150 playing cards. 50 of them can be used when teaching basic passé composé of regular verbs with avoir. There are also 50 that only use être, and another set of 50 to practice être or avoir with both regular and irregular verbs. All of the short sentences are written in the present tense, and some use negation. Students just need to restate the sentence in the passé composé. Advanced French Translation Challenge #9 - Video + PowerPoint

My series of Advanced French Translation Challenges is for intermediate through advanced level learners. Practically every grammar topic in my complete series which is available as a bundle. Note that I made these videos for my students, so I may make references to lessons that your students may not have learned.

The video is 11 minutes long, giving time for you or students to put the video on pause and to work on translations before going over them. I provide LOTS of grammar explanations. The video includes two substantial translations, English to French. You may choose to work on only one per session. I've included a PowerPoint version if you would rather not use the video and work through the translations with your students on your own.

Grammar highlighted in this resource:

The grammar topics are quite varied, because this is what happens in real French conversations. I frequently do translation work with my students, and they really appreciate the variety of material that is covered.

Every sentence includes the grammar that your advanced students have been working so hard to master. When translating, it's interesting to compare sentence structure. This is an opportunity to observe sentences that students would really say, and to figure out how to do that in French.
