If you are looking for a fun, engaging way to provide spelling practice for your students, look no further! I have always had a hard time finding products that contained muli-syllabic words with specific syllable types AND fluency sentences that accompanied words, as opposed to long passages. Cut out the cards for the version you plan to use, as well as the "BANG" cards. Place them face down in a stack or in a bag or container and have students take turns drawing a card. They should read the card and keep it. If a BANG is drawn, they have to return all their cards to the deck/pile. The student who has the most cards when time is up is the winner.

Materials:

+ Copy the pages onto card stock & cut apart. Evenly distribute the “BAM!” cards throughout the deck.

Players: 4-6

Directions:

• Players will take turns drawing a card from the pile and read the sight word. If the student is correct they can keep the card, and the next student takes a turn.
• The object of the game is to have the most cards at the end of the game.
• However, when a player gets the “BAM!” card, then they have to put all of their cards back in the pile. They keep the “BAM!” card.
• If a student draws a “POW!” card that student loses a turn, but keeps the “POW!” card.
• If a student draws a “WOW!” card that student gets to take another turn.

**Anybody can win the game, it is not just the best reader, because of the element of chance in the game. The game ends when all cards are gone.

How to Use:

The Who Took? Game is based on “Who Stole the Cookie”, but has a fun twist for each month to use at home or in the classroom.

Each game includes directions, 9 cards, lyrics for game play, and a storage box for the cards. If more than 2 players are using the game, you’ll want to print more than one set of cards. Also, I recommend printing the cards on card stock and laminating the cards, as well as the lyrics, for extended life of the game.
